DeKalb County is sending eight softball teams to the GHSA State Softball Playoffs with Super Regionals beginning on Tuesday and Thursday.

The 2022 GHSA State Softball Playoffs have a new twist this year as teams will be playing in a double-elimination Super Regional hosted by the eight No. 1 seeds in each classification.

The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs won the Region 4-5A softball title to earn the host role on Thursday (Oct. 20) and Friday (Oct. 21). Chamblee won a school record 29 games last season under Coach Alan Loper and earned a trip to the third round of the state playoffs in Columbus and are 23-3 this season heading into the state playoffs.

Chamblee opens play against McIntosh (11-14) at 9:00 am on Thursday with Union Grove taking on Ware County in the second game at 11:00 am. The winners play at 1:00 pm and the losers play at 3:00 pm. Games are scheduled at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and if necessary, at 2:00 pm.

Four teams go on the road on Tuesday to open their respective Super Regionals with Dunwoody (12-15) opening play at 1:00 pm against Woodward Academy (14-1) in the South Effingham Super Regional. South Effingham hosts Tift County in the 3:00 pm game. Play continues Wednesday at 1:00 pm with the two first game losers kicking off the day.

Southwest DeKalb and Miller Grove go on the road to the Walnut Grove and Pace Academy Super Regionals, respectively. Southwest (10-11) faces Lovett (12-13) at 1:30 pm at Walnut Grove. Walnut Grove follows against Sonoraville at 3:45 pm. The first game losers play at 6:00 pm followed by the first game winners at 8:15 pm. Play continues Wednesday at 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and if necessary, 8:00 pm.

The Riverview Sports Complex hosts the Pace Academy Super Regional where Miller Grove (10-4) faces off with Pace Academy (17-10) at 3:00 pm following the East Forsyth/Northwest Whitfield game at 1:00 pm. The two losers meet at 5:00 pm and the two winners at 7:00 pm that day. Wednesday’s games are slated for 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm and if necessary, 7:00 pm.

Columbia (4-6) travels to Mt. Paran on Tuesday to open the Class 2A state playoffs against host Mt. Paran (25-5) at 3:00 pm following the Haralson County/Providence Christian game slated for a 1:00 pm start. The two losers play at 5:00 pm followed by the two winners at 7:00 pm. Wednesday games are set for 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm and if necessary, 7:00 pm.

Thursday has two Class 5A and one Class 3A DeKalb teams playing in their respective Super Regionals.

Arabia Mountain (9-7) takes on Northside Columbus (17-11) in a 2:00 pm game at the Jones County Super Region. Jones County and Coffee County open the regional with a 12:00 pm start. The two losers meet at 5:00 pm followed by the two winners at 6:00 pm. Friday play begins at 2:00 pm followed by the championship game at 4:00 pm and if necessary, 6:00 pm.

Tucker (5-14) goes on the road to take on host Harris County (23-5) at 12:00 pm to open the Harris County Super Regional. Ola and Statesboro meet at 2:30 pm. The two losers are set for a 5:00 pm meeting and the winners play at 7:30 pm. Friday opens at 1:00 pm followed by the championship game at 3:30 pm and if necessary, 6:00 pm.

Cedar Grove (4-4) travels to the Wesleyan Super Regional to take on Lafayette (20-5-1) at 4:00 pm following host Wesleyan and Franklin County set for 12:00 pm. The winners follow at 4:00 pm and the losers at 6:00 pm. Play opens on Friday at 3:00 pm followed by the championship rounds at 5:00 pm and if necessary, 7:00 pm.
