Tucker defense shuts out Salem to end the Lions 12-game win streak. All Saturday middle school football games are postponed to Saturday, Oct. 15.

Tucker ended a 12-game win streak for Salem with an 8-0 win last Saturday at Adams Stadium in a battle of Region 2 unbeatens.

The two teams were two of six teams without a loss heading into the weekend’s action including Lithonia (3-0), Cedar Grove (3-0), Stephenson (4-0) and Stone Mountain (3-0).

Tucker (4-0, 1-0) running back Christian Copeland powered in from one yard out for the lone touchdown of the game to give Tucker the lead. Quarterback Jace German connected with wideout Christian Ema for the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.

The two defenses made it hard on either team to get the football in the end zone. Ty’rell Jolly led the Tucker defense with multiple tackles for a loss and Ema sealed the game with a later interception. Salem fell to 3-0 overall and 0-1 in Region 2.

Lithonia 34, Freedom 0
The Lithonia Bulldogs opened Region 2 action with an impressive 34-0 win over the Freedom Rams (1-3, 0-1) to remain undefeated on the season.

Quarterback Armani Myco was again the offensive catalyst for the Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0) throwing three touchdown passes, two to Anthony Flourney and one to Kameron Alexander. Myco also had a rushing touchdown to go with an 87-yard, one touchdown performance by running back Devis Dean.

A host of Bulldog defenders had four tackles in the shutout including Caleb Cooper, Rickey Kelly, Quinton Rhodes, Devis Dean and Blake Sherman all picking up tackles for a loss in the win.

Cedar Grove 20, Bethune 14
Cedar Grove moved into first place in Region 4 with a tough 20-14 win over the Bethune Lions (2-2-1, 2-1) at Avondale Stadium on Saturday.

The Saints (4-0, 2-0) were led by running back Kaylin Williams with over 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Jaylen Thomas added a 15-yard rushing touchdown of his own.

Bethune’s Tyler Wooten got the game started with a flash as he ran the opening kickoff back for a touchdown to give the Lions a quick 6-0 lead. Quarterback Rashaad Silver threw a touchdown pass to L’Markus Scott and added a two-point conversion to keep the Lions within striking distance of the Saints.

Stephenson 48, Druid Hills 6
Stephenson became the first team to five wins this season as the Jaguars (5-0, 3-0) knocked off Druid Hills (0-4, 0-2) 48-6 at Adams Stadium.

The Jaguars forced a punt on the opening drive of the game and grabbed the early lead on a 45-yard punt return for a touchdown by Jordan Christie. Jayden Johnson added touchdown runs of 35 and 15 yards. Gavin Kinchen added two touchdowns for Stephenson to go with a five-yard run and a two-point conversion by Badasir Lubala. Defensive linemen Kwame Green and Isaac Cook-Sapp led the Jaguar defense.

Chapel Hill 42, Miller Grove 0
Chapel Hill (3-1, 1-1) stayed in the playoff race in Region 3 by bouncing back from a loss to Stephenson to defeat Miller Grove (1-4, 0-3) 42-0 at Avondale Stadium.

Rober Alexander led the way for Chapel Hill with two touchdowns to go with solo scores by William Bryant, Anthony Jones and Tim Hayese. Damarion Davis added a two-point conversion for the Panthers.

Braylan Carter recovered a fumble for a touchdown for the Panthers’ defense and Jones kept Miller Grove pinned deep with an outstanding job in his kickoff duties.
