The fourth week of DeKalb County cross country competition shifted to the Arabia Mountain High School course for the fourth week of races with the Redan boys and Southwest DeKalb girls picking up victories.

Southwest DeKalb grabbed the win in the girls’ varsity race placing five runners in the Top 10 to easily win 23-61 over both Stephenson and Arabia Mountain who both totaled 61 points on the day. Stone Mountain was fourth with 83 points and Douglass 129 was fifth.

Shamyah Wright captured the individual title to lead her Southwest DeKalb teammates with a time of 21:45.54. Stone Mountain’s Amiyah Wyatt crossed in second at 25:19.49.

The Lady Panthers running mates Janya McKoy (25:25.70) and Jamiea Lindley (29:05.68) crossed in third and fourth. Southwest wrapped up the meet win as Kaila Wimes (31:31.71) and De-Asia Kelly (33:12.56 came across in seventh and eighth, respectively.

Arabia Mountain place three in the Top 10 led by Jaelyn James (29:35.37) in fifth and Amiyah Keel-Harris (29:45.22) in sixth. Destiny Saladin (33:49.12) finished 10th for the Lady Rams.

Stephenson’s Tahtianna Fongchoy (33:28.32) came across ninth overall to lead the Lady Jaguars with Adrianna Howard (33:49.39) in 11th and Caseyona Hight (34:19.40) in 12th. Stephenson was given the tiebreaker over Arabia Mountain for second as fifth place runner Ariel Grant (34:41.38) finished in front of Arabia Mountain’s fifth place runner Liya Yesef (37:40.55).

Redan captured the boys’ team title on the day putting five runners in the Top 7 to outrun Lithonia 20-64. Douglass (73) was third followed by Stephenson (80), Arabia Mountain (123) and Miller Grove (150).

So Wah crossed the line first for Redan in 21:31.63) with teammate Lodrick Scott coming in second in 22:02.57. Jamari Drumright was fourth (22:30.43) and Justin Ballard (22:51.62) was sixth and Zamarvian Green (22:51.95 in a close seventh to round out the Redan runners in the Top 10.

Lithonia had Phillip Howard (23:23.08) in eighth place and Kyanau Chatman (23:28.61) in 10th to aid the second-place finish. Douglass had a pair of Top 10 runners in its third-place finish as Dassani Walker (22:21.01) came across in third and Brandon Simmons (22:30.62) in fifth.

Stephenson’s Dwayne McKinney rounded up the Top 10 runners coming in ninth (23:23.91).
