The GHSA Basketball State Tournaments get underway on February 22-23 and four DeKalb teams have earned their way into the tournament due to their region play.

The Arabia Mountain Lady Rams (18-5) and Druid Hills Red Devils (21-4) are both qualified for the Class 4A State Tournament by virtue of their regular season runners-up finishes in Region 6-4A. Both are automatically in the region semifinals. The Red Devils are one win away from tying for the sixth most wins in school history and for its most wins since a 22-10 season back in 2007.

Class 6A has the Tucker Tigers (19-4) and Lakeside Lady Vikings (11-10) earning berths following first round wins on Saturday night at Tucker. Lakeside eliminated North Atlanta 41-34 and the Tigers knocked off DeKalb rival Lakeside (8-16) 78-32. Both teams play in the Region semifinals on Wednesday at Tucker

Dunwoody fell in both boys and girls play on Saturday in the Region 7-7A tournament. The Wildcats (5-19) dropped a 79-31 decision to Archer after advancing on Friday with a 49-46 win over Duluth. The Lady Wildcats (6-15) lost a heartbreaking 32-21 decision to host Discovery to end their season.

Other Region action gets underway on Monday with Stephenson hosting the Region 6-4A tournament play-in round and then opening first round action on Tuesday. Monday’s play-in games has Miller Grove and Hapeville in the 5:30 pm girls’ game and DeKalb foes Arabia Mountain and Stephenson facing off at 7:00 pm in boys’ play.

Region 5-3A opens with boys’ play on Monday featuring Redan hosting Carver at 6:00 pm and Cedar Grove traveling to Salem for another 6:00 pm contest.

Region 5-5A opens with Clarkston hosting Northview in girls play at 7:00 pm on Monday and Martin Luther King Jr. hosting Clarkston in a boys’ play-in game also at 7:00 pm.

Region 6-2A opens the boys’ bracket with play-in games at Columbia on Monday featuring McNair vs. Washington 5:00 pm and Towers vs. KIPP at 6:30 pm. The 6-2A girls open their tournament at KIPP on Monday with Therrell and Towers at 5:30 pm and McNair and Coretta Scott King at 7:00 pm.
