Champion and Chapel Hill girls remain undefeated along with the Tucker Tigers’ boys’ squad after Week 6 middle school basketball action.

Champion and Chapel Hill are the lone remaining undefeated girls’ teams in the DeKalb County Middle School Basketball standings heading into play on Wednesday night.

Region 2 leader Champion (9-0) knocked off previously undefeated and Region 3 leader Salem (7-1) 45-27 on Saturday night to complete another undefeated week of basketball for the Lady Chargers. Champion was led by Charmaine Owens (19 points, 4 steals) in the win while Chance Alexander (12 points, 16 rebounds, 7 steals) was another big contributor. Ryann Chaney grabbed 14 rebounds for Champion.

Earlier in the week Champion knocked of Chamblee (6-3) 46-9 led by Alexander (12 points, 5 steals), Lauren Chavis (11 points, 10 steals) and Ryann Chaney (10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals).

Chapel Hill 47, McNair 12
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers (9-0, 6-0) capped a pair of Region 4 games with a 47-12 win over McNair (1-9, 1-6). Deasia Kelly led the way with 12 points, 13 steals and 5 rebounds. Zariya Bough chipped in 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals.

Earlier in the week Chapel Hill defeated Cedar Grove (1-7, 0-5) 47-16. Kelly was the leader with 19 points, 11 steals, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Joie Files had 8 points, 8 assists and 8 steals to aid the winning cause. Aiyana Morgan and DeYonah Reed both hit for 6 points for Cedar Grove.

Stephenson 49, Stone Mountain 5
The Stephenson Lady Jaguars (6-2, 4-2) defeated the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (0-10, 0-4) to finish a 2-0 stretch for Week 6 of the season. Cyncere Sims led the way with 15 points and Kamryn Larkin added 14 points.

Stephenson opened the week with a 36-11 win over Bethune (5-4) in non-region play. Larkin was the leading scorer with 10 points.

Peachtree 26, Freedom 16
The Peachtree Lady Patriots (9-1, 5-1) opened a 2-0 week with a 26-15 non-region win over the Freedom Lady Rams (3-6). Taniyah Jenkins hit for 11 points and Kaz McLoughlin chipped in 8 points. Peachtree finished the week with a 44-0 win over Sequoyah.

Miller Grove 49, Lithonia 26
Miller Grove (7-2, 4-2) split a pair of Region 3 games last week finishing up with a 49-26 win over Lithonia (2-6, 0-4). Salem (7-1, 5-0) kept its mark in Region 3 unblemished with a 41-8 win over Miller Grove on Wednesday. Kaeslyn Benjamin had 6 points for Lithonia in the loss. Miller Grove was led by Bailee Canty with 21 points and Kaeslyn Benjamin with 14.

Columbia 29, McNair 18
The Columbia Lady Eagles (6-4, 3-3) split a pair of Region 4 games last week via a Wednesday night 29-18 win over the McNair Lady Mustangs (1-9, 1-6). Makayla Juhan had 12 points in the win and Marlee Brown added 8. The end of the week did not go as well as Bethune (5-4, 5-1) picked up a 26-17 win over the Eagles. Taleah Thomas led Bethune with 13 points and Juhan had 11 for Columbia.

Redan 39, Cedar Grove 9
The Redan Lady Raiders (4-4, 3-3) evened up their overall record with a 39-9 win over the Cedar Grove Lady Saints (1-7, 0-5). A. Brooks had 14 points for Redan while Cedar Grove got 5 points from Aiyana Morgan.

BOYS RESULTS
Cedar Grove beat Region 4 foe Chapel Hill on Wednesday and gave Redan its first loss of the season as the Saints held their edge over the Columbia Eagles in Region 4.

The Saints (8-1, 4-1) completed a season sweep of Chapel Hill (5-4, 3-3) with a 35-32 win on Wednesday. Emmanuel Green was a big factor as he hit for 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the Saints. Nahzir Mitchell added 8 points and 9 rebounds as a force on defense. Harlin Perine had a game-high 22 points and added 7 assists to lead Chapel Hill.

Cedar Grove knocked off Redan (8-1, 6-0) in non-region play giving the Raiders their first loss of the season. Manny Green had 23 points (12 in 4th quarter) and 11 rebounds to lead Cedar Grove. Reginald Harris hit for 14 points and 6 rebounds to aid the win. Tristan Mitchell had 19 points for Redan.

Chapel Hill 48, McNair 26
Chapel Hill salvaged the week with a 48-26 Region 4 victory over the McNair Mustangs (1-9, 0-7) on Saturday. Jordan Holland hit for 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 5 blocked shots in the win.

Peachtree 44, Freedom 38
The Peachtree Patriots (3-6, 2-4) opened a 2-0 week with a 44-38 non-region victory over the Freedom Rams (3-6, 2-3). Jack Lamb (14 points) and Emerson Mitchel (13) points led the way for the Patriots. King Hernandez had a game-high 26 points to lead Freedom.

Peachtree finished the week with a 47-19 win over the Sequoyah Braves (0-8, 0-7). Christopher Salgado had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for the Braves.

Lithonia 46, Miller Grove 40 OT
The Lithonia Bulldogs (2-6, 2-3) won an overtime thriller 46-40 over the Miller Grove Wolverines (5-4, 3-3) in Region 3 action on Saturday. Elijah Gleaves had 16 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Miller Grove. The Wolverines won their mid-week game 40-27 over Salem (2-7, 1-5) to get one region win on the week. Isaiah Oglesby led Miller Grove with a 12-point, 10 rebound double-double and added 5 blocked shots.

Salem 63, Champion 49
The Salem Lions ended the week on a good note with a 63-49 win over the Champion Chargers (3-6, 3-1). Emontae Gourdine had 28 points and 3 assists for Salem.

Chamblee 49, Champion 38
Jaylon Avery had 19 points to lead the Chamblee Bulldogs (7-2, 3-2) to a 49-38 non-region win over the Champion Chargers. Champion cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter, but a technical and Chamblee’s excellent free-throw shooting put the game away.

Stone Mountain 37, Stephenson 31
The Stone Mountain Pirates (2-9, 1-4) picked up their first Region 2 win of the season with a 37-31 victory against the Stephenson Jaguars (1-7, 1-4) on Saturday. Jhalil Phillips had a strong night with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 4 steals to lead the Pirates.

Druid Hills 48, Stone Mountain 27
The Druid Hills Dragons (7-2, 5-0) solidified their hold on the top spot in Region 2 with a 48-27 win over the Stone Mountain Pirates on Wednesday. Stone Richards and Michael Setrana both scored in double figures for Druid Hills. Jhalil Phillips had 11 points and Tyree Porter 10 for Stone Mountain.

Bethune 33, Columbia 32
The Bethune Lions (6-4, 4-2) evened its season’s season record at 1-1 against the Columbia Eagles (8-2, 4-2) and moved into a second-place tie with Columbia in the Region 4 standing with a 33-32 nail-biting win. Bethune’s balanced attack was led by Dontavious Strainfield (8 points) and Corinthius Collins 6 points. Bryson Bigsby (19 points and J. Jones (9) led Columbia.

Columbia 47, McNair 30
Columbia salvaged their week on Wednesday with a 47-30 win over the McNair Mustangs (1-9, 0-7). Brandon Bigsby led the way with 13 points while Bryson Bigsby and Jashawn Thompson chipped in 10 each for the Eagles.
