Three middle school girls’ basketball programs keep slate clean with wins on Wednesday night.

Champion, Chapel Hill and Salem kept their unbeaten marks intact on Wednesday in DeKalb middle school girls’ basketball action.

Champion continued to put distance between itself and its Region 2 opponents improving to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in region play with another balanced attack in a 48-14 region win over the Druid Hills Dragons (1-4, 0-2). Chance Alexander put together a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double along with 3 blocks to lead the Chargers. Others providing firepower and defense included Charmaine Owens (11 points), Lauren Chavis (8 points, 4 assists, 5 steals, 7 rebounds), Jhia Primrose (5 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals), Lierra Cousar (5 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds) and Sanaa Stanton (5 points).

Chapel Hill 63, Stone Mountain 18
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers (6-0, 3-0) kept their slate clean with a 63-18 non-region over the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-6, 0-2). Joie Files had an unusual double-double on the night with 13 points and 13 steals to go with 4 assists and 4 rebounds to lead Chapel Hill. Deasia Kelly (14 points, 6 steals), McKenzie Copeland (9 points, 3 steals) and Kendall Campbell (8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals) all played big roles in the win.

Salem 38, Freedom 14
A 38-14 Region 3 victory by the Salem Lady Lions (5-0, 3-0) over the Freedom Lady Rams (3-3, 1-2) kept Salem atop the region standings and undefeated. Shanya Heath scored a game-high 19 points to lead Salem in the win.

Chamblee 37, Peachtree 34
The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0) knocked off the previously undefeated Peachtree Lady Patriots (4-1, 2-1) to climb to the top of the current Region 1 standings. Chamblee had a solid team performance to overcome an outstanding 19-point output by Peachtree’s Taniyah Jenkins.

Redan 28, Lithonia 15
The Redan Lady Raiders (3-2, 2-1) moved into second place in Region 4 by defeating the Lithonia Lady Bulldogs (1-5, 0-3) 28-15 on Wednesday. Londyn Felder hit for a game-high 12 points to lead Redan. LaShaj Cline led Lithonia with 7 points and Jakiyah Jackson added 5.

McNair 22, Cedar Grove 21
The McNair Lady Mustangs (1-4, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season in a thrilling 22-21 Region 4 victory over the Cedar Grove Lady Saints (0-5, 0-4). K. Ridges hit for a game-high 10 points to lead McNair in the win while Cedar Grove’s Janecia Stroud hit for 9.

In other girls’ games, Tucker (2-3, 2-1) got a great team effort to knock off Henderson (2-4, 1-3) 25-12 in Region 1 play. Bethune (2-3, 2-0) improved to 2-0 in Region 4 action following a 31-29 victory over Columbia (4-2, 1-2).

BOYS RECAPS
The Tucker Tigers (5-0, 3-0) became one of two remaining undefeated boys’ squads by knocking off previously undefeated ranked foes Henderson Cougars (5-1, 3-1) 52-32 on Wednesday night.

Octavius Gresham hit for 16 points to lead a group of three Tigers in double figures on the night. Donavan Smith hit for 14 points and Jakobi Williams chipped in 12 points and 8 assists.

Redan 60, Lithonia 38
The Redan Raiders (5-0, 3-0) joins Tucker as one two remaining undefeated teams in boys’ play with a 60-38 Region 3 victory over the Lithonia Bulldogs (0-6, 0-3). Tristen Mitchell was the top point getter for Redan with 17 points and was joined in double figures by Jordan Frances and Amare Medhin with 10 points each.

Druid Hills 43, Champion 38
The Druid Hills Dragons (4-1) improved to 2-0 in Region 2 play with a 43-38 win over the Champion Chargers (3-2, 3-1) on Wednesday. Stone Richards was the big force for Druid Hills with a game-high 24 points as they gave Champion its first region loss of the year. Champion’s Carlin Cabbil had a big game of his home hitting for 18 points in the loss.

Chamblee 58, Peachtree 42
The trio of Jaydon Avery, Dylan Shannon and Houston Buck led the Chamblee Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1) to a Region 1 58-42 win over the Peachtree Patriots (1-4, 0-3) on Wednesday. Peachtree had two players hit double figures in Emerson Mitchell (16) and Isaiah Frison (13).

Cedar Grove 41, McNair 25
Eight different players scored for the Cedar Grove Saints (4-1, 3-1) in a 41-25 Region 4 win over the McNair Mustangs (1-4, 0-2). Reginald Harris was the lead for Cedar Grove with 12 points in the game.

Columbia 40, Bethune 34
Bryson Bigsby hit for a game-high 20 points to lead the Columbia Eagles (5-1, 2-1) to a 40-34 Region 4 victory over the Bethune Lions (2-3, 1-1). Jeshawn Thompson grabbed 15 boards and Brandon Bigsby added 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.

Freedom 43, Salem 32
The Freedom Rams (3-3, 2-1) got a big night from King Hernandez on the way to a 43-32 Region 3 victory over the Salem Lions (1-4, 1-2). Hernandez hit for 24 points and pulled down 5 rebounds for the Rams. Walie Price had 6 points and 6 rebounds to aid the Rams’ cause.

Chapel Hill 40, Stone Mountain 36
The Chapel Hill Panthers evened their record at 3-3 overall with a 40-36 non-region win over the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-6). Caleb Winfrey hit for 16 points to go with 7 steals and 5 assists in the win for Chapel Hill. Stone Mountain got a solid 15 points from Ishmel Thompson and 10 more from Jhalil Phelps.
