The Henderson Cougars became the first DeKalb Middle School basketball program to reach five wins on the season while five other teams sit at 4-0 heading into Week 4 action on Wednesday.

Henderson (5-0, 3-0) took a one game lead on the Tucker Tigers in Region 1 as they defeated the Peachtree Patriots (1-3, 0-2) 49-14 on Saturday. Grady Ellerman led the way with 14 points and 6 steals for the Cougars. He was joined in double figures by Pearce Becker (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Zayd Muhammad (10 points, 4 assists).

Redan 45, Bethune 43
The Redan Raiders (4-0) are the only team other than Henderson still undefeated on the boys’ side following a hard-fought non-region 45-43 win over the Bethune Lions (2-2) on Saturday. Tristan Mitchell led the way with 19 points and 5 rebounds while Amare Medhin added 12 points and 3 assists. Dontavious Springfield led Bethune with a team-high 15 points. Jaylon Phillips added 11 points and 5 rebounds for Bethune.

Chamblee 58, Sequoyah 10
The Chamblee Bulldogs (3-1, 1-1) evened their Region 1 record with a 58-10 win over the Sequoyah Braves (0-4, 0-3) on Saturday. Jalen Chatfield was the points leader for Chamblee scoring 10 points and Dante Cutillo contributed on defense with 5 steals.

Cedar Grove 47, Columbia 34
The Cedar Grove Saints (3-1, 2-1) moved into first place in Region 4 by knocking off previously undefeated Columbia Eagles (4-1, 1-1) 47-34 on Saturday. Cedar Grove’s Emanuel Green (30 points, 15 rebounds) hit a three-point play, a three-pointer and had a dunk to open an 8-0 for the Saints to start the second half and they never looked back. were also big contributors for Cedar Grove. Reginal Harris had 12 points for Cedar Grove and Nahzir Mitchell had a solid game with 6 points and 6 steals. Jashawn Thompson hit for 12 points and Brandon Bigsby 9 to lead Columbia.

Miller Grove 53, Salem 33
The Miller Grove Wolverines (3-2, 1-1) moved into a three-way tie for second in Region 3 with a 53-33 region win over the Salem Lions (1-3, 1-1). Roman Sims hit for a game-high 16 points to lead Miller Grove. Elijah Gleaves (12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals) and Messiah White (10 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks) for the Wolverines.

Champion 55, Stone Mountain 39
The Champion Chargers (3-1, 3-0) are halfway to a Region 2 title after knocking off the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-5, 0-2) 55-39. Jakeir Caines scored a season high 16 points inside to lead the Pirates while Jackson Ushery stroked in 14 from outside. Ushery along with teammates Carlin Cabbil and Jacoby Huff made it tough for the Pirates to move the ball up court.

Freedom 52, Lithonia 39
The Freedom Rams (2-3, 1-1) moved into a three-way tie for second in Region 3 with a 52-39 win over the Lithonia Bulldogs (0-5, 0-2). Kin Hernandez led the way with 27 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Wali Price joined Hernandez in double figures for the Rams with 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.

Druid Hills 40, Stephenson 29
The Druid Hills Dragons (3-1, 1-0) picked up their first Region 2 win of the season with a 40-29 win over the Stephenson Jaguars (1-4, 1-3). Stone Richards led the way in the win with 14 points for the Dragons.

Chapel Hill 51, McNair 11
The Chapel Hill Panthers (2-3, 1-2) snagged their first Region 4 win via a 51-11 victory over the McNair Mustangs (1-3, 0-1). Caleb Winfrey hit for 13 points in the win.

GIRLS RESULTS
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers (5-0, 3-0) lead a group of four girls’ teams that remain undefeated after three weeks off middle school basketball action.

Chapel Hill defeated the McNair Mustangs (0-4, 0-1) 61-9 to be the first girls’ team to get to 5-0 on the season. Deasia Kelly led a group of four players in double figures for Chapel Hill with 18 points (7 steals, 6 assists). She was joined in double figures by Joie Files (11 points, 9 steals, 3 assists), McKenzie Copeland (14 Points, 6 steals) and Kendal Campbell (11 points, 4 rebounded, 3 steals).

Columbia 32, Cedar Grove 15
The Columbia Eagles (4-1, 1-1) evened up their Region 4 record at 1-1 with a 32-15 victory over the Cedar Grove Saints (0-4, 0-3). Makayla Juhan topped the scoring for Columbia with 16 points. Milan Smith (8 points, 7 rebounds) and Marlee Brown (5 points, 6 rebounds) aided the Columbia cause. DeYonah Reed led the way for Cedar Grove with 10 points.

Salem 40, Miller Grove 31
The Salem Lions (4-0, 2-0) grabbed the Region 3 lead by knocking off the previously unbeaten Miller Grove Wolverines (4-1, 1-1). Shanya Heath (17 points) and Mya Perry (13) points were the catalysts for Salem. Miller Grove’s Bailee Canty lead all scorers with 21 points.

Champion 61, Stone Mountain 6
The Champion Chargers (4-0, 3-0) kept their undefeated mark intact and took control of the Region 2 standings with a 61-6 win over the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-5, 0-2). Kamaya Rivers (14 points, 3 steals), Chance Alexander (13 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals), Charmaine Owens (9 points, 3 steals), Lauren Chavis (4 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) and Jhia Primrose (4 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals) led the way on both ends of the floor for Champion.

Redan 33, Bethune 20
The Redan Raiders (2-2, 1-1) evened their overall record at 2-2 with a balanced offensive approach to defeat the Bethune Lions (1-3) 33-20 in non-region play. Aubri Brooks (9 points), Serenity Barnette (9 points) and Londyn Felder (8 points) were a three-pronged attack for Redan, Makayla Coleman hit for a game-high 14 points to lead Bethune.

Peachtree 38, Henderson 16
The Peachtree Patriots (4-0, 2-0) kept their undefeated streak alive at 4-0 via 38-16 Region 1 victory over the Henderson Cougars (2-3, 1-2). Taniyah Jenkins led the way with 11 points and Kazimiera McLaughlin chipped in 10. Burrarg had eight points to lead Henderson.

Stephenson 34, Druid Hills 23
The Stephenson Jaguars (3-2, 2-2) evened their Region 2 record at 2-2 on the season with 34-23 win over the Druid Hills Dragons (1-3, 0-1). Cyncere Sims-Turner hit the nets for 14 points and Kamryn Larkin added 11. Azelia Shell hit for a game-high 15 points to lead Druid Hills. Druid Hills got a big defensive effort from Honee Haynes.

Freedom 37, Lithonia 15
The Freedom Rams (3-2, 1-1) moved into a three-way tie for second in Region 3 by defeating the Lithonia Bulldogs (1-4, 0-2) 37-15. Keria Brooks led the way with a game-high 23 points for Freedom.

Chamblee 39, Sequoyah 2
The Chamblee Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0) improved to 2-0 in Region 1 by knocking off the Sequoyah Braves (0-4, 0-3) 39-2.
