Nine DeKalb middle school basketball teams remain undefeated heading into play this weekend.

Five girls’ teams and four boys’ teams head into Saturday’s play undefeated following Wednesday night’s DeKalb County middle school basketball play.

Region 4 leader Chapel Hill improved to 4-0 in girls play with a convincing 51-12 non-region win over Lithonia (1-3) on Wednesday. Kendall Campbell had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds for Chapel Hill to go with a 12-point, 8-steal performance by Deasia Kelly. Joie Files added 6 points, 8 assists and 8 steals in an all-round game.

Miller Grove 46, McNair 14
Miller Grove, the co-leader in Region 3, also upped its record to 4-0 on the girls’ side with a 46-14 win over McNair (0-3). Bailee Canty hit for a game high 18 points and Kaeslyn Benjamin chipped in 13.

Salem 51, Chamblee 23
The Salem Lady Lions, Region 3 co-leader, improved to 3-0 on the season via a 51-23 victory over previously unbeaten Chamblee (2-1). Shanya Heath put up a huge 24 points to lead Salem while teammate Mya Perry collected 18 points in the win.

Champion 30, Stephenson 9
The Champion Lady Chargers (3-0, 2-0) took control in Region 2 with their second win over region foes Stephenson Lady Jaguars (2-2, 1-2) 30-9. Champion once again had a concerted team effort led by Charmaine Owens (9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists. Chance Alexander (7 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals), Lauren Chavis (6 points, 8 steals), Ryan Cheyney (4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Lierra Cousar (4 pints, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) helped round out the team effort. Ta’Tiyanna Hill had 3 points and Sarah Okorawanta added 2 points and 4 blocks.

Peachtree 30, Tucker 24
The Peachtree Patriots (3-0, 1-0) survived an overtime scare in a Region 1 contest against the Tucker Tigers (1-3, 1-1) 30-24 to remain undefeated. Tucker was kept in the game by Kassidy Manning who scored 15 points in the overtime loss.

Bethune 33, Cedar Grove 14
The Bethune Lions (1-2, 1-0) garnered their first victory of the season 33-14 over the Cedar Grove Saints (0-3, 0-1). Makayla Coleman was the leader for Bethune with 17 points while Taleah Thomas chipped in 14 more.

Redan 26, Freedom 19
The Redan Raiders (1-2, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season and first Region 3 victory with a 26-19 decision over the Freedom Rams (2-2, 0-1). Keana Wilder was the catalyst for Redan as she scored 14 points and Londyn Felder chipped in 5. Wadole Mila hit for 8 points for Freedom and Keria Brooks added 7 along with 4 more by Jessica Mays.

Henderson 16, Sequoyah 2
The Sequoyah Braves (0-3, 0-2) played some tough defense but could not muster much on the offensive end as Henderson Cougars (2-2, 1-1) won a Region 1 meeting 16-2. Rasheed Shabazz, Yeymi Morales and Dailyn Carreto were tough on defense for Sequoyah.

BOYS RESULTS
Four teams remain undefeated in boys’ play led by the Region 1 duo and co-leaders Henderson and Tucker.

Three players scored in double figures as the Henderson Cougars (4-0, 2-0) stayed in a first-place tie in Region 1 with a 71-11 win over Sequoyah (0-3, 0-2). Zayd Muhammad led the way with 20 points and 5 assists followed by Azion Spencer (12 points, 6 rebounds) and Kip Redo (10 points, 5 steals).

Tucker 51, Peachtree 16
The Tucker Tigers (4-0, 2-0) remain tied for the Region 1 lead with Henderson following a 51-16 win over Peachtree (1-2, 0-1). The trio of Omari Fernandez (14 points), Jakobi Williams (11 points) and Octavius Gresham (10 points) fueled the Tigers’ win.

Redan 66, Freedom 37
The Redan Raiders (3-0, 2-0) kept their perfect mark intact and took over the lead in Region 3 with a 66-37 victory over the Freedom Rams (1-3, 0-1). Sixth grader Amare Medhin hit for a team-high 20 points and Jordan Frances had an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the Raiders. Zion Harris added 9 points, 3 assists and 5 steals. King Hernandez hit for a game-high 26 points to lead Freedom.

Columbia 37, Stone Mountain 22
The Columbia Eagles improved to 4-0 following a 37-22 win over the Stone Mountain Pirates in non-region action. Newton Smith led Stone Mountain with 6 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals to go with 6 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists by Jhalil Phelps. Ismel Thompson contributed 4 points, 3 steals and 6 rebounds for the Pirates.

Champion 44, Stephenson 30
The Champion Chargers (2-1, 2-0) took the lead in Region 2 defeating the Stephenson Jaguars (1-3, 1-2) for the second in the past two weeks. Carlin Cabbil, Jacoby Huff and Rahsann Isaac led the way as Champion used a full court press to trouble the Jaguars. Jackson Ushery and Rance McKenzie added some pinpoint outside shooting for the Chargers.

Chapel Hill 52, Lithonia 13
The Chapel Hill Panthers (1-3, 0-2) picked up their first win of the season with a 52-13 victory over the Lithonia Bulldogs (0-4). Caleb Winfrey led Chapel Hill with 13 points in the wins.

Chamblee 42, Salem 22
The Chamblee Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the season with a 42-22 non-region win over the Salem Lions (1-2). Ryan McCord, Dylan Shannon and Darrell Dickens combined for 23 of the 42 points to lead the offensive attack for Chamblee.

Miller Grove 42, McNair 12
The Miller Grove Wolverines evened their record at 2-2 overall with a 42-12 non-region win over the McNair Mustangs (1-2). Elijah Gleaves had a solid night with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Messiah White contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds for Miller Grove.

Bethune 43, Cedar Grove 37
The Bethune Lions (2-1, 1-0) used a balanced offensive attack to knock the Cedar Grove Saints (2-1, 1-1) from the ranks of the unbeaten in a Region 4 clash. Rashaad Silver hit for 9 points, Jaylon Phillips had 8 points and 5 rebounds and Keshawn Briggs knocked down 8 points for Bethune.
