A final night of Thursday Night Lights in DeKalb County ended with the Lakeside Vikings shutting out the Clarkston Angoras 33-0 at Hallford Stadium.

Both teams came into the game with two wins and battled to a 0-0 tie after one quarter of play before the Vikings would strike with 10:27 to play in the first half.

On the first play following a Clarkston punt running back Jean-Luc Naison got outside the left end and raced 48 yards for the Vikings’ opening score of the night. The Angoras blocked the PAT and Lakeside was up 6-0.

The score remained 6-0 until AJ Hollmon sped around left end for a 16-yard touchdown run to make it 12-0 in favor of the Vikings with 1:55 to go in the half. Clarkston again blocked the PAT.

With 8:05 left in the third quarter Lakeside’s Jordin Miller blocked and grabbed a Clarkston punt attempt. He then ran to the endzone carrying a defender with him for the touchdown. John Roath ran in the two-point conversion to make it a 20-0 lead for the Vikings.

Facing a fourth and 15 at the Clarkston 29 Vikings quarterback Sterling Knowles dropped back and threw down the middle of the field. Miller was standing at the goal line as a Clarkston defender tried to bat the pass down, but deflected into the waiting hands of Miller for the touchdown. Jay Hanson’s PAT gave Lakeside a 27-0 lead with 10:45 to play in the game.

As the clock ticked under seven minutes to play Clarkston was pinned in the shadows of its own goalpost. A first down pass attempt was intercepted by John Baria and returned 17 yards for the final score of the game with 6:22 to play. A two-point pass after a mishandling of the snap on the PAT was incomplete to make the final score of 33-0.

Miller led the Vikings to the win with his two touchdowns on the night while teammates AJ Hollmon (4 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD) and Jean-Luc Noison (3 carries, 71 yards, 1 TD) led the ground attack.

Clarkston managed just 66 yards of offense on the night and the Vikings had 206. Clarkston finishes the season 2-3 and the Vikings ended at 3-7.
