Seven home games are on tap for this Friday in DeKalb County led by No. 1 ranked Cedar Grove hosting Greater Atlanta Christian and Tucker and Southwest DeKalb renew their county rivalry.

The Cedar Grove Saints (1-1) open Region 5-3A play by hosting the Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans (0-3) after an open date following their tough loss to Class 7A Colquitt County two weeks ago in a 7:30 pm game at “Buck” Godfrey Stadium.

Cedar Grove holds a 2-1 lead in the series (2020 win was forfeited) as the two teams clash in an effort to win their way to the state playoffs. The Saints are led on offense by running back/athlete Rashad Dubinion who ran for over 170 yards against Colquitt and on defense by junior defensive lineman Adonijah Green (11 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2.5 TFL).

Greater Atlanta Christian lost its region opener 16-12 to Lovett and fell 48-14 to Decatur last weekend.

The Southwest DeKalb Panthers (0-3) and the Tucker Tigers (0-3) renew their rivalry for the 22nd time on Friday at Hallford Stadium with kickoff set for 8:00 pm.

Both teams enter the contest looking for their first wins in 2021 having both lost tight contests to No. 8 ranked Stephenson. The Panthers are coming off a bye-week and are led offensively by wide receiver Armond Davis (7 receptions, 178 yards, 3 TDs) and on defense by sophomore defensive lineman Chase Kearns who has 17 tackles including five sacks and eight tackles for a loss.

Tucker dropped a heartbreaker to Stephenson last Friday falling 20-14 in a game tied at 14 midway through the fourth quarter. The Tigers lead the series with the Panthers 14-6-1 having won 29-12 in 2020. Senior linebacker Kaecee Supples is one of the leaders on defense with 22 tackles (11 solo, 11 assists) and quarterback Amir Streeter triggers the offense and accounted for 321 yards of offense in the loss to the No. 8 ranked Jaguars.

Other home games include a double-header at Adams Stadium with Druid Hills (0-4) hosting Madison County (2-1) at 5:15 followed by Lakeside (1-3) entertaining Cherokee Bluff (3-0) in the Vikings’ homecoming game.
