Chamblee’s Patrick Scott set a pair of DCSD Senior All-Star Classic pitching records in a 16-0 shutout victory for the West Senior All-Stars over the East in the 18th Annual All-Star Classic held recently at Dunwoody High School.
Scott pitched a complete game shutout in eighth innings and struck out 15 while allowing just five baserunners that came via three hits, one walk and one hit-by-a-pitch. The performance earned him the West MVP honors as he set the Senior All-Star records for innings pitched (8) and strikeouts (15).
He faced the minimum over five innings and went five and two-thirds before allowing a hit, including 10 strikeouts. The lone base runner over the first five innings was a walk and Scott picked him off.
While Scott was dialing up a sharp-breaking curveball and sneaking his fastball past the East batters, the West offense slowly built up an 11-0 lead.
Lakeside’s Joseph Garcia walked, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error in the first inning to give Scott all the runs he would need. Decatur’s Justin Weaver walked, stole second and scored on Lakeside’s Pete Constantides’ ground out to make it 2-0 after two complete.
Two East errors opened the door for a five-run third inning for the West. Garcia’s sacrifice fly to score Decatur’s Marshall Toole, who had reached on the first error and stole second and third, opened the five-run outburst. Dunwoody’s Isaac Harkins walked, stole second and score on a passed ball to make it 4-0.

Constantides hit a single with the bases loaded to pick up two RBI while a third run scored on an error on the play as lead the ballooned to 7-0 heading to the fourth inning.
Scott set the East down in order for the second consecutive inning and the West was poised to strike for four more runs in the bottom of the inning.
Toole was hit-by-a-pitch and again stole second and third before scoring on a double by Harkins to get the four-run inning started for the West. Harkin would steal third after a walk to Garcia and scored on an error. Dunwoody’s Parker Bakke closed out the scoring with a two-run double down the left-field line to make it 11-0 heading into the fifth.
Scott hit Arabia Mountain’s Keiton Robinson to start the sixth to give the East just their second baserunner of the game before striking out the next two batters. Redan’s Narvin Booker hit a single to break up the no-hitter and the East had runners at the corners before Scott caught a pop-up on the infield to end the threat.
Bakke drove in Weaver with a single to make it 12-0 heading into the seventh inning.
Scott gave off a leadoff triple to Redan’s Addrain McNeal, but bounced back with three consecutive strikeouts to keep the McNeal from scoring.
The West added four more runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run triple by Harkins, a RBI single by Garcia and an RIB triple by Lakeside’s Zaylan Washington to close out the scoring.

Scott went back out to the mound in the eighth to close out the game. He allowed a leadoff double to Robinson, but struck out two and got a grounder back to the mound to finish off his victory.
Harkins finished the game 2-3 with a double, triple, three RBI, two stolen bases and two walks to lead the West at the plate while Bakke was 2-4 with a double and three RBI and Washington went 2-4 with a double and RBI. Decatur’s Marshall Toole was 0-3, but reached base three times, set a new senior record for stolen bases in a game with four on the day and tied the record for being hit-by-a-pitch with two.
Booker had the hit to break of the no-hitter and pitched two innings to be named the MVP for the East. McNeal was 1-3 and Robinson 1-2 (the only East player to reach base twice against Scott) for the other two East hits in the game.
The West is the winner of the four of the past five Senior All-Star games to lead the series 6-3. The East won the 2019 game to break a three-year run by the West.
