Only two games played over the Spring Break.

There was an extremely light schedule for DeKalb County schools over spring break last week, as only two local squads saw any action.

Both Chamblee and Lakeside prevailed in their lone contest of the week. Coach Brian Ely’s Chamblee Bulldogs pulled out a thrilling 10-9 decision on the road April 9, moving to 15-6-1 overall on the year.

Chamblee pounded out 10 hits in the Riverwood slugfest, led by senior Chris Anastasi (2-2; 2 RBI) and sophomore David Welsh (2-3; 2 RS; 1 SB). Junior Taylor Flowers (1-4; 3 RBI; 1 RS; 1 HR); sophomore Fabian Walker (1-1; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 2B), senior Pete Constantinides (1-2; 1 RS; 1 RBI) and junior Sydyk Ross (1-3; 2 RS; 1 SB) also made contributions on the offensive end. Sophomore Jake Potthoff (1 2/3 IP; 2 ER; 4 HA; 1 BB) earned the pitching victory, while senior Patrick Scott (1 1/3 IP) secured the save.

Coach Brian Granger’s Lakeside Vikings had little trouble taking care of Newton County April 9 at home, winning by a comfortable 11-1 margin to move to 18-4 overall.

Lakeside received multiple hits from junior Isaac Terrell (3-3; 3 RS; 1 RBI), junior Will Tansill (3-3; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 1 2B) and junior Reeve Walden (2-2; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 2B; 1 SB) in a dominating 11-1 decision over Newton County. Senior Joseph Garcia earned the pitching triumph, starting and striking out five while allowing only two hits over three innings. Tansill tossed the final two innings, striking out two and giving up five hits, one walk and one earned run.
