Lakeside’s 4-0 mark led the way among three local squads that posted perfect records in DeKalb County baseball action from last week.

Coach Brian Granger’s Lakeside squad stormed past Morrow (16-1) March 1, Morrow (14-6) March 3, Morrow (13-1) March 5 and Decatur (5-3) March 6 by the combined margin of 48-11 in improving to 8-1 overall on the season.

Lakeside slipped past Decatur (5-3) March 6, as senior Joseph Garcia (2-3; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 1 HR) and junior Isaac Terrell (2-4; 1 RS) paced the offense and Garcia (3 IP; 0 ER; 1 HA; 2 SO; 2 BB) registered the mound decision.

Coach Brian Ely’s Chamblee Bulldogs are once again bouncing back from a slow start, going 3-0 last week with impressive victories over Mt. Vernon (3-2) March 1, Dunwoody (11-10) March 3 and Miller Grove (15-0) March 4 to move to 5-4-1 overall.

Stone Mountain registered the final perfect week, knocking off Towers to the tune of 11-4 in James Lal’s debut as head baseball coach March 5.

Southwest DeKalb rang up 15 hits in a 17-9 decision over Tri-Cities March 5. Sophomore Antrez McDowell (3-5; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 1 HR; 1 SB), junior Michael Faustin (3-4; 3 RS; 3 RBI; 1 HR; 1 3B; 1 2B; 3 SB) and senior Jakoby Mason (2-3; 2 RS; 3 SB) collected multiple hits at the plate. Sophomore Jaryl Williams picked up the mound triumph, starting and going three innings while allowing five earned runs, eight hits and two walks to go along with three strikeouts.

The Panthers also steamed past Columbia by a 15-1 margin March 1. Junior Nicholas Williams (2-2; 3 RS; 6 SB), junior Davion Graham (2-3; 3 RBI), McDowell (2-3; 2 RS; 3 SB), Faustin (2-2; 3 RS; 2 RBI; 2 SB), sophomore Marcus Winkfield (2-3; 2 RS; 2 RBI; 3 SB) and junior Kevin Gray (2-2; 1 RS; 2 SB) each collected six hits to pace the offensive charge, while Gray earned the pitching victory with four complete innings as the starter that included six hits allowed, no earned runs, one strikeout and two walks.
