The Southwest DeKalb Panthers won the Area 5-5A Traditional Wrestling title for the fourth consecutive year.

The #RoadtoMacon runs through state sectional qualifying this weekend and 99 DeKalb County wrestlers begin competition today at various sites around the state for one of those coveted spots in the GHSA State Traditional Wrestling Tournament next week.

Class 5A has the biggest group of sectional qualifiers with 49 from Area 5-5A going into completion today led by four-time Area champion Southwest DeKalb with 12, including nine area gold medal winners. Jeunte McCray (106), Jayden Hammonds (113), Alex Dunton (120), Stephen Hines (132), Keith Duckett (138), Rastafari Ramjag (145), Jaheim Williams (152) Jerrel Baskins (160), Ricky Howard (22) and Evan Scott (285) all took home gold medals

Second place Miller Grove and third place Arabia Mountain both had 11 wrestlers qualify for the sectional at Alexander High School this weekend. Miller Grove was led to second by gold medalist Roddriqus Tracy (195) and Arabia Mountain was led by gold medalist Jevann Spann (182).

Clarkston joins in with four qualifiers, including one gold medal winner (Ekoue Kangni, 170). Columbia has five qualifiers including 126 gold medal winner Torrin Marshall. Chamblee had three qualifiers and Lithonia one.

Dunwoody, Martin Luther King Jr., Stephenson and Tucker combined to send 26 wrestlers to the state sectional being held at Alexander this weekend.

Area 4-6A runner-up Stephenson leads the way with 11 wrestlers headed to the sectional including five Area 4-6A gold medal winners. Andre Bernard (113), Titus Sanders (120), Alec Sanders (138), Damonie Young (152) and Micah Goodwin (220) were the gold medal winners.

Dunwoody which finished third in Area 7-6A has eight wrestlers advancing including three silver medalists (Ben Tarrago, 126; Curtis Holloway, 182; and Charles McCown, 220) and three bronze.

Tucker has four wrestlers headed to the sectional led by silver medalist Tyhler Williams (285) and Martin Luther King Jr. has three led by gold medalist Clavin Worthy (195).

The Stone Mountain Pirates won the Area 3-3A Tournament as 19 DeKalb wrestlers qualified for the state sectional at Pike County.

Stone Mountain ties Southwest DeKalb with 12 wrestlers heading to sectional including six gold medal winners, three silver and three bronze. Redan finished fourth in the Area Tournament qualifying seven for the sectional including 120 champ Joshua Graham, one silver and three bronze medal winners.

Lakeside is sending three wrestlers to the 7A Sectional at South Forsyth. Silver medalists Kevin Carranza (170) and Micah Carrier (182) along with bronze medalist Mohamed Omar (120) qualified.

McNair had a pair of wrestlers qualify for the 2A Sectional at Bremen in Taneaias McCune (106) and Tony Butler (160).
