Four DeKalb teams have punched tickets to the state playoffs. Thirty-two more are in win or go home mode in Region Tournaments.

Four DeKalb County high school basketball teams locked up state playoff berths last week while 32 more have to win their way in during this week’s region tournament action.

Region 5-5A is being hosted at Columbia High School with the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (19-6) and Lady Panthers (19-6) earning first round byes and automatic state tournament berths with their No. 1 seeds.

All other teams in the region need to win one game to grab a spot in the Class 5A state playoffs beginning next week. Tournament play begins Tuesday at 5:30 with a pair of games involving both the boys’ and girls’ teams from Miller Grove and Chamblee playing to move on to next week.

Stephenson is hosting the Region 4-6A Tournament beginning tonight with the bottom two seeds facing off to enter the main tournament. The Tucker Lady Tigers face Morrow in the girls’ game at 6:00 pm.

Both Dunwoody teams travel to Pope for first round games in the Region 7-6A tournament. The Lady Wildcats take on Chattahoochee at 4:00 pm while the Wildcats matchup with John’s Creek at 8:30 pm

In Region 7-7A play tonight, the Lakeside Vikings face Central Gwinnett for a spot in the main draw and a shot at the state playoffs in a 7:30 pm game at Meadowcreek.

The Druid Hills Lady Red Devils play for a spot in the state playoffs as they face off with host North Clayton in a 7:00 pm girls’ contest.

It’s a girls’ only night in Region 5-3A at Pace Academy as the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (12-12) start off the night facing DeKalb rival Redan at 4:30 pm. Cedar Grove takes on Towers in the 7:30 pm game.
