The DeKalb Schools middle school basketball season moves into the fifth week tonight with both the Stephenson boys’ and girls’ teams sporting perfect 7-0 records.

Both Stephenson teams are undefeated in Region 2 action as well with 4-0 marks. Both teams are off in tonight’s (Wednesday) play. The Lithonia Lady Bulldogs are the only other undefeated squad at 6-0 overall and atop the Region 3 leaderboard at 3-0.

A pair of big girls’ games tonight features Tucker hosting Chamblee in Region 1 and McNair hosting Columbia in Region 4. Tucker (3-2) and Chamblee (3-3) are tied for second in Region 1 with identical 2-1 marks and the winner will take over second all alone at 3-1 behind Henderson (6-1, 4-0).

Columbia (4-2) leads the Region 4 girls’ standings at 3-0 while McNair (3-4) is tied for second with Chapel Hill (2-4) at 2-1 in Region play. A win by McNair would move the Lady Mustangs into a tie for first.

Salem (6-1, 4-0) leads the Region 3 boys’ standings and travels to Redan (5-2, 3-1) in a key region matchup tonight.

GIRLS
Columbia 39, Bethune 4
The Columbia Eagles improved to 4-2 overall and remained undefeated in Region 4 action at 3-0 with a 39-4 win over the Bethune Lady Lions (0-7, 0-3). Kamri Gilbert led the way with a game-high 18 points for Columbia. Janiya McGauley came off the bench to score four points and Emoni Scott’s tough defensive play contributed to the win.

Henderson 23, Tucker 18
Henderson took the lead in the Region 1 girls’ standings as the Lady Cougars defeated the Tucker Lady Tigers 23-18. Adia Bouldin led the way with 14 points and teammate Tucker Malaya added 12. Henderson is 6-1 overall and 4-0 in Region 1 while Tucker fell to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the region.

Lithonia 37, Redan 23
The Lithonia Lady Bulldogs remained undefeated on the season at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 3 action with a 37-23 region victory over the Redan Lady Raiders (4-3, 1-3). Laila Williams scored 14 points to lead the way for Lithonia while teammate Alika Daugherty was tough on the defensive end with 10 steals.

Stephenson 58, Stone Mountain 22
The Stephenson Jaguars rolled to a 58-22 Region 2 victory over the Stone Mountain Pirates. Stephenson was led by Christian King with 5 points and Antonio Shy with 11.

Tucker 32, Henderson 19
The Tucker Tigers took the lead in the Region 1 standings with a 32-19 victory over the Henderson Cougars. Tucker improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 atop the region standings. Henderson is now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in region play.

BOYS
Cedar Grove 51, Freedom 14
The Cedar Grove Saints bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 51-14 win over the Freedom Rams. Jamar Graham led the win with 14 points, Jaylen Adside added 12 points and Barry Jackson hit for 8.

Henderson 63, Sequoyah 23
The Henderson Cougars bounced back from a tough Region 1 loss to Tucker last week with a 63-23 region win over Sequoyah on Saturday. Keonte Gibbs scored 13 points for the winners.

Peachtree 54, Champion 45
Ryan Smith hit for 17 points to lead the Peachtree Patriots to a 54-45 win over the Champion Chargers last Saturday. Peachtree improved to 3-3 while the Chargers fell to 4-2 on the season.

Stephenson 57, Chamblee 26
The Stephenson Jaguars ran their record to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Region 2 standings with a 57-26 non-region win over the Chamblee Bulldogs last Saturday. Tahj Evans scored 13 points, including a three-pointer to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter.

GIRLS
Champion 44, Peachtree 9
A 21-point performance by Myori Pruitt led the Champion Lady Crusaders to a 44-9 non-region win over the Peachtree Lady Patriots last Saturday. Champion improved to 5-1 overall as Jayla Thomas added 9 points and Aaliyah Ismael 7. Peachtree fell to 2-4 on the year.

Freedom 8, Cedar Grove 7
Jamiyah Jenkins hit a game-winning three-pointer with 14 seconds to play to propel the Freedom Lady Rams (2-5) to a hard-fought 8-7 win over the Cedar Grove Lady Saints (1-6). Freedom’s Robyn Ward had 4 blocks and Armani Joyner had 3 blocks in the defensive battle.

Henderson 35, Sequoyah 9
Adia Bouldin scored 15 points to lead the Henderson Lady Cougars to a 35-9 Region 1 win over Sequoyah.

Miller Grove 28, Redan 20
The Miller Grove Lady Wolverines knocked the Redan Lady Raiders out of tie for second place with a 28-20 Region 3 victory. Lindsey Myles hit for 15 points to lead Miller Grove (5-1, 2-1) and Brooklyn Scrubb added 6. Redan fell to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the region.

Stephenson 52, Chamblee 23
The Stephenson Lady Jaguars got a game-high 25 points from Sabrina Russell on the way to a 52-23 non-region win over the Chamblee Lady Bulldogs on Saturday. Stephenson’s Kyndall Sessom added 10 points as the Lady Jaguars improved to 7-0 overall. Chamblee fell to 3-3 on the season.
