DeKalb County teams have just five home games during Week 5 of the high school football season with Stephenson and McNair going on the road for Thursday night football.

The Stephenson Jaguars (2-1, 1-0) travel to Clayton County’s Tara Stadium for a 7:00 pm Region 4-6A contest with the Morrow Mustangs (1-3, 1-1).

The Jaguars opened region play last Friday night at Hallford Stadium with a 41-0 Region 4-6A opening win over Mt. Zion-Jonesboro.

Ryan Ingram rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries and caught a pair of passed for 68 yards and a touchdown pass from Joseph Jackson to lead the Stephenson rout. Jevon Goff added 72 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries while Andre Sanchez went for 42 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries.

Cordell Andrews played a role in the shutout returning an interception 63 yards for a touchdown. The Jaguar defense shut down Mt. Zion limiting the Bulldogs to just 15 yards (12 rushing, 3 passing) of total offense.

Morrow is coming off a tough 14-12 region loss to Mundy’s Mill a week ago.

McNair (2-1) vs. KIPP Academy (1-3)
The McNair Mustangs try to bounce back from a tough road loss to Cartersville last Friday night as they travel to Atlanta’s Lakewood Stadium for a 7:30 pm kickoff against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate in a Region 6-2A contest.

The Mustangs (2-1, 0-0) are playing their first game in Region 6-2A action after moving over from Region 5-3A. McNair opened the season 2-0 with wins over Towers and Redan behind the running of Andre Harris. Harris rushed for a combined 290 yards and three touchdowns in the first two games.

KIPP (1-3, 0-1) is coming off two consecutive losses of 39-25 to North Atlanta and 42-0 to Maynard Jackson. KIPP lost its season and region opener 12-8 to BEST and defeated Osborne 18-13.

Five Home Games
A pair of undefeated Region 5-5A teams headline the five-game home schedule for DeKalb as Lithonia (3-0) and Southwest DeKalb (4-0) both host foes from high classifications on Friday night.

The undefeated Bulldogs host Class 7A Pebblebrook (1-2) in a 7:30 pm kickoff at Godfrey Stadium on Friday.

Lithonia is coming off a bye-week following wins over Forest Park (26-24), Redan (27-6) and Stone Mountain (43-6) to open the season. Senior Shawn Collins leads the offense for the Bulldogs with 341 yards rushing and four touchdowns while senior receiver Kevah Brantley has 7 receptions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Pebblebrook is coming off consecutive losses to Hillgrove (24-7) and Etowah (17-14). The Falcons own a 28-12 win over South Cobb in their season opener.

SW DeKalb (4-0) vs. Lovejoy (2-1)
Class 6A Lovejoy invades Hallford Stadium for a 7:30 pm game against the undefeated Southwest DeKalb Panthers on Friday.

The Panthers ran their record to 4-0 on the season with a 41-0 win over DeKalb rival Redan last Friday night led by a 212-yard, three-touchdown performance by Eian Scott. Scott now has 365 yards rushing and five touchdowns in three games this season.

Lovejoy (2-1) lost its season opener 40-14 to Banneker before rebounding for consecutive Region 4-6A wins over Mundy’s Mill (36-34) and Drew (44-32).

The other home games include Tucker (1-2, 1-0) hosting Mundy’s Mill (3-1, 0-1) at 7:30 pm at Adams Stadium, Clarkston (0-4) hosting Berkmar (1-2) at Avondale at 7:30 pm in the Angoras’ homecoming game and Lakeside (1-2) playing at North DeKalb Stadium against Forsyth Central (2-1) at 7:30 pm.
