The Tucker Lady Tigers eased to a 3-0 victory over Evans to reach the Class 6A Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season in matches played at Hudlow Tennis Center on Wednesday.

Tucker’s Summer Clemons (13-1) put the Lady Tigers on the board with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles against Evans’ Haley Fullen. She ran off 12 consecutive game wins after being tied 2-2 in the opening set.

Her older sister, Autumn (9-1) matcher Summer with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Katy Earwood at No. 1 singles to make it 2-0. The No. 2 doubles team of Trinyty Turner and Jade Wurapa finished a 2 sets to none win with a 6-2 second set victory to close out the match against Evans’ Nancy Kye and Jasmine Lee.

Tucker (17-1) is set to play host next week to Region 2-6A No. 2 seed Richmond Hill which defeated Houston County 3-0 in first round play. The match date, time and site have yet to be set.

The Tigers (15-3) fought back from a 2-1 deficit, but a third set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles went to Evans eliminating Tucker 3-2.

Evans won the two doubles’ points in straight sets to offset Tucker’s Shawn Lunde’s 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over Erik Fulton to make it a 2-1 advantage.

Tucker’s Malik Shakir battled Evans’ Travis Knox at No. 3 singles coming out with a 6-4, 6-4 win in a hotly contested two sets to pull the Tigers even at 2-2.

Usman Jamal worked hard at No. 2 singles despite a hurting arm to rally from a first set loss to tie his match at one set apiece with a 6-4 win in the second set against Evans’ Matthew Kozlowski. Jamal took a 5-4 lead in the third set and was serving for the win up 6-5 before Kozlowski broke serve to knot the set at 6-6.

Jamal kept working and was up 5-3 in the tiebreaker before Kozlowski show his resilience again to rally for four straight points and 7-5 win to take the deciding set for Evans.
