The rematch of Stephenson’s thrilling 20-16 overtime Trail to the Title Championship victory over Tucker also went into overtime as the Tigers won 6-0 at Adams Stadium.

Tucker (2-0) and Stephenson (1-1) put together another tough defensive game (one of eight shutouts on the weekend) as they went back and forth to a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation.

Tavares Myers put the Tigers up with a 15-yard quarterback keeper in overtime for the game winner. Latavius Johnson sealed the victory with a crucial interception to prevent a Stephenson score in overtime.

Tucker’s win ran the Tigers’ consecutive regular season win streak to 26 games dating back to 2013.

Redan 6, McNair 0
Redan and McNair ramped up the defense in another defensive dominated game won 6-0 by the Raiders (1-0-1) over the Colts (1-1) on Saturday at Hallford Stadium.

A 19-yard touchdown run by Redan’s Votarres Thaxton was the difference in the game. Jaden Virgin had a key interception on defense for the Raiders.

The Colts defense proved stingy for the second consecutive week led by Malachi Jackson and Lennis Moore who combined for 9 tackles and 5 assists while harassing the Raider offense.

Salem 12, Columbia 0
The Salem Lions allowed just one score in a 6-6 tie with Cedar Grove in the season opener and proved even tougher in a 12-0 shutout of the Columbia Eagles (1-1) at Avondale Stadium.

Jordan King’s two rushing touchdowns helped the Lions improve to 1-0-1 on the season.

Druid Hills 13, Chamblee 6
Quarterback Darrius Benton rushed for one touchdown on 71 yards to lead the Druid Hills Dragons (2-0) to a hard fought 13-6 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs (0-2) at Adams Stadium.

Druid Hills also got a touchdown from Carlos Williams in the victory. The Dragons’ defense has allowed just six points in its first two games of the season.

Chamblee which dropped its second consecutive one-score loss of the season got a 12-yard touchdown run from Zion Taylor for its score.

Champion 24, Peachtree 0
Two interception returns for touchdowns fueled the Champion Chargers to a 24-0 win over the Peachtree Patriots at North DeKalb Stadium.

Amir Streeter had one of the interception returns for a score (43 yards) and rushed for another touchdown in the win for the Chargers (2-0). Jordan Perry finished up the scoring for Champion with his own interception return for a touchdown.

Peachtree’s defense played tough against Champion allowing just the one offensive touchdown by Streeter.

Miller Grove 20, Cedar Grove 0
The Miller Grove Wolverines’ defense put together another great performance in a 20-0 victory over the Cedar Grove Saints (0-1-1) at Avondale Stadium.

Jamari Earls led the defense with his interception return for a touchdown while teammate Jean Cherelus picked up nine tackles in the game. Jayden Brown rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown to aid the Wolverines’ cause. Miller Grove is 1-1 on the season.

Renfroe 14, Henderson 6
Chapman Smith rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Renfroe Bulldogs (1-0-1) to a 14-6 win over the Henderson Cougars (0-2) at Decatur High School.

Smith’s scores came on runs of 27 and 65 yards and he added four tackles a fumble recovery on defense as the Bulldogs limited Henderson to just one score.

Nahshon Smith was the leader of the Bulldog defense with seven tackles, five for losses, and forcing and recovering a fumble.

Bethune 36, Freedom 0
Rashad Dubinion scored running and receiving to lead the Bethune Lions (2-0) to a 36-0 victory over the Freedom Rams (1-1) at Hallford Stadium.

Dubinion put together 80 yards rushing a touchdown on 12 carries and caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Jabarhi Cleckley (3-5 passing, 85 yards, TD). Janiaran Bonner added a pair of touchdowns for the Lions as well with 15 carries for 60 yards and the two scores. Jamair Randell had one carry for a 45-yard touchdown run.

Bonner added eight tackles (2 sacks) to lead the defense for Bethune while Demetress Broughton added four tackles and an interception. Dubinion contributed six tackles in the game.

Christvie Okitanguwo and Derrick White had five tackles each for the Rams defense with Demitris Ragland contributing four tackles.

Lithonia 28, Chapel Hill 0
The Lithonia Bulldogs’ defense kept Chapel Hill out of the end zone on the way to a 28-0 victory over the Panthers (0-2) at Godfrey Stadium.

Styland Scott provided a thrilling 56-yard punt return in the Bulldogs’ (1-1) win.
