Godfrey Stadium hosts a tripleheader of middle school football games on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am.

EJ Walker scored on a 12-yard run in the third overtime to propel the Champion Chargers to the 18-12 triple overtime win against the Chamblee Bulldogs on Saturday.

Walker’s touchdown came at the end of the third overtime to give Champion the win.

The two teams ended regulation tied at 12-12 and both went scoreless in the first two overtimes.

Champion’s scores came on a 76-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Peyton Russell and a Brandon Adams fumble recovery in the end zone for the second score.

Chase Ballard ran hard for the Chargers (1-0) on offense and also had a 56-yard interception return in the game. Chamblee falls to 0-1 on the season.

Druid Hills 6, Redan 2
Dakkar Sajna’s touchdown late the fourth quarter gave Druid Hills (1-0) the winning margin in a 6-2 victory over the Redan Raiders (0-1).

The Raiders led 2-0 late in the game when Druid Hills’ Devin White blocked a punt that led to Sajna’s touchdown. Rimario McClinton had 42 yards rushing to lead the Dragons who start the season 1-0.

Redan which has scored a safety earlier in the game to make it 2-0 fell to 0-1. Caleb Grant had five sacks in the game and Malik Sims finished with 89 all-purpose yards to lead the Raiders.

Stephenson 20, Chapel Hill 6
Special teams and defense paved the way for a 20-6 season opening victory over Chapel Hill (0-1) on Saturday for the Stephenson Jaguars (1-0).

De’Quinn Taylor’s 78-yard kickoff return to the Chapel Hill six-yard line set up his on six-yard touchdown run. Terrence Guffie had a 12-yard run for a score and Kamar Wilcoxson’s 40-yard interception return to the Chapel Hill five set up the third and final score.

Tory Marshall and Ahmad Drummer had two quarterback sacks each in the game to lead the Jaguar defense.

Lithonia 14, Columbia 0
The Lithonia Bulldogs (1-0) created six turnovers as the defense shutout the Columbia Eagles (0-1) in a 14-0 season opening win.

Lithonia turned two of the turnovers into touchdowns for the win.

Freedom 20, Stone Mountain 14
Carl Wilson was all over the field for the Freedom Rams (1-0) to help his team to a 20-14 victory over the Stone Mountain Pirates (0-1).

Wilson had a touchdown receiving and one rushing while making five tackles on defense to lead the Rams. Nathaniel Williams added two tackles and an interception on defense for Freedom.

Jamil Greene contributed 70 yards rushing and quarterback Xavier Wright had 70 yards passing and one touchdown.

Renfroe 24, McNair 14
The Renfroe Bulldogs (1-0) got a lot of contributions in putting together a 24-14 win over the McNair Colts (0-1) last weekend.

Joss Connally, Jared Lester and Austin Montier all scored touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Kriston Esnard added three extra points and was 1 of 2 on field goals. Nahshon Smith was the big contributor on defense with 12 tackles in the game.

Offensive linemen Javin Brown, Joseph Rodriguez and Thad Smith led the way up front for McNair. The trio played a key role in opening holes for running backs Chadwick Dorsey and Javon Yearby to keep McNair in the game.

Peachtree 44, Sequoyah 6
First year quarterback Davis LeDoyen connected with Mekhi McKinney for a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Peachtree Patriots (1-0) to a season opening 44-6 victory over the Sequoyah Braves (0-1).

Bradley Fields added 81 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns for the Patriots’ offense and Corey Neal scored on a four-yard run of his own.

Neal, Evin Scott and Eugene Pawlak all forced fumbles on a defense that forced six turnovers including three interceptions.

Tucker 30, Henderson 6
Zion Alexander led a trio of Tucker offensive players to score in the Tigers’ (1-0) 30-6 win over the Henderson Cougars (0-1) in the season opener last weekend.

Alexander put together 127 all-purpose yards with one touchdown in the game to join Randy Britt and Keeman Hayes in the scoring department. Britt finished the game with 71 yards rushing, one touchdown and one fumble recovery. Hayes scored a touchdown on 74 yards rushing.

Bethune 6, Cedar Grove 0
The Bethune Lions used a smothering defense to shutout two-time defending Trail to the Title champions Cedar Grove Saints 6-0 to open the 2016 season.

Joshua Battle was a thorn in the side of the Saints (0-1) as he had 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery to lead the Lions’ defensive charge. Rashod Dubinion added 8 tackles along with 75 yards rushing on 11 attempts on offense.

Patrick Cosby had 6 tackles, including 1 sack and Akeli Hollins had four tackles. Dantre Fitzgerald and Antonio Welch added to the turnovers caused by the Lions’ defense with each recovering a fumble.

The lone touchdown in the game came on a 65-yard touchdown reception by Jacques Jones for Bethune (1-0).

Miller Grove 22, Salem 14
Quarterback Denylon Morrissette rushed for a pair of touchdowns to lead the Miller Grove Wolverines (1-0) to a 22-14 season opening win over the Salem Lions (0-1).

Jarvis Stewart was the work horse for Miller Grove with 98 yards rushing and a touchdown.
