Seven DeKalb County teams qualified for the state tournament beginning Friday with Lakeside and Southwest DeKalb as the only teams hosting home playoff series.

Lakeside (19-7) is hosting Westlake in Class 6A play with the best-of-three series starting with a doubleheader on Friday at 2:00 pm. The third game, if necessary, is set for Saturday at 2:00 pm.

In other Class 6A playoff action Tucker (13-13) is traveling to Newnan on Friday for a 3:00 pm doubleheader with a third game, if necessary at 3:00 pm on Saturday.

Southwest DeKalb (17-6) leads the three-team Class 5A contingent by entertaining Cambridge in a 2:00 pm doubleheader on Friday. The third game would be played on Saturday at 12:00 pm.

Dunwoody (13-12) goes on the road to Dalton for a 2:00 pm doubleheader with third game set for Saturday at 1:00 pm. Druid Hills travels to Forsyth Central for a 5:00 pm doubleheader on Friday and a third game is set for 2:00 pm Saturday.

In Class 4A action, Redan is the guest in a trip to Cartersville for a 4:00 pm doubleheader and would play the third game at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Chamblee likewise traveling with a date against Heritage-Catoosa set for a 2:00 pm doubleheader on Friday and the if necessary third game at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Four DeKalb County squads posted perfect records in the final week of regular season action.

Coach Brian Ely’s Chamblee Bulldogs rolled past Arabia Mountain (4-2) April 18, Cross Keys (16-0) April 20 and Cross Keys (15-0) April 21 to move to 12-14 overall for the year.

Seniors Sam Mays (1 IP; 3 SO; 2 BB) and Travis Anderson (1 IP; 1 SO; 1 BB) teamed with junior Jack Bennett (1 IP; 1 SO) to toss a no-hitter in Chamblee’s April 21 blanking of Cross Keys (15-0).

Coach Steve Dennis picked up victory No. 376 in a 3-0 week that included dominating triumphs over Cross Keys (29-0) April 18, Lithonia (16-1) April 20 and Lithonia (16-1) April 21 in finishing 15-11 overall.

Coach Donnie Hayes and the Lakeside Vikings swept a three-game series against Tucker, winning 7-3 April 18, 7-5 April 19 and 8-7 April 21 to move to 19-7 on the year.

Coach Marcus Salter’s McNair Mustangs closed out the year with two impressive decisions over Douglass (20-7) April 18 and Washington (14-2) April 20 to finish 9-11-2 overall.

Senior Joel Campos-Mendez closed out his high school career in style for Towers in a 9-8 victory over Douglass April 20, finishing 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and one stolen base.

Seniors Tyler Sylvester (2-4; 2 RBI), Myles White (2-3; 2 RS; 3 RS; 2 RBI) and Jaquarious Glover (2-3; 2 RBI) delivered two hits in Southwest DeKalb’s 11-2 victory over Mays April 20. Junior Channing Walker struck out six and allowed four hits over seven innings on the pitching end.
