A season-high six teams escaped the last week before spring break with perfect records to lead the way in DeKalb County action.

Coach Donnie Hayes and the Lakeside Vikings again led the way, romping past Lovejoy (16-2) March 28, Alcovy (12-2) March 29, Lovejoy (23-0) March 30 and Lovejoy (12-2) March 30 by a combined margin of 63-6 in going 4-0 and improving to 15-1 overall for the year.

Senior Garrett Boden finished 4-4 with four RBI and two runs scored in Lakeside’s 23-0 triumph over Lovejoy March 30.

Coach John Adams and the Miller Grove Wolverines enjoyed their best week of the season to date, breezing to impressive triumphs over Clarkston (17-1) March 28 and Stephenson (14-3) March 30 in a 2-0 effort that moved their overall season record to 5-11.

Senior Lazarian Bloodsaw struck out five and allowed three hits and no earned runs over three innings in gaining the mound decision in Miller Grove’s 17-1 triumph over Clarkston March 28. Junior Eddie Winfrey paced the offense, going 3-3 with two runs scored.

Miller Grove also knocked off Stephenson (14-3) March 30, as senior John Hayes allowed five hits and two earned runs in going the full five innings on the pitching end. Junior Daniel Harris (3-3; 4 RS; 4 SB) and sophomore Rayshawn Brown (3-4; 3 RS; 2 SB) led a 15-hit offensive attack.

Coach Steve Dennis and the Columbia Eagles continued their strong play of late, picking up Region 6AAAA triumphs over Stone Mountain (15-0) March 28 and Grady (6-5) March 30 while going 2-0 and moving to 8-9 overall.

Junior Jamal Huff struck out 10 in five innings in Columbia’s 15-0 blanking of Stone Mountain March 28.

Coach Marcus Salter’s McNair Mustangs also posted their first winning weekly record, going 2-0 with Region 4AAA victories over South Atlanta (8-7) March 28 and Towers (8-5) March 30 to improve to 6-11-1 overall on the year.

Seniors Prosper Johnson (2-3; 2 RBI) and Maurice Sutton (2-4; 2 RBI) shined offensively in McNair’s 8-5 decision over Towers March 30.

Coach Chan English’s Dunwoody Wildcats also stayed in the thick of the state playoff hunt with a 2-0 showing that included consecutive shutout decisions over Banneker (10-0) March 28 and Carver (10-0) March 30 to move 8-8 overall.

Sophomore Dylan Kovitch registered a no-hitter in Dunwoody’s 10-0 blanking of Banneker March 28, striking out nine over five innings. Sophomore Josh Hudgins went 2-3 with two runs scored to lead the way offensively.

Coach Pete Barlewski’s Druid Hills Red Devils rolled to a 3-0 showing, easily defeating Tri-Cities (8-4) March 28, Galloway (15-4) March 29 and Clarkston (15-0) March 30 to move to 12-7 overall.
