Five squads rumbled to perfect 3-0 records in leading the way among DeKalb County entrants in action from last week.

Coach Chan English and the Dunwoody Wildcats remained in the thick of the Region 6AAAAA title chase with impressive triumphs over Creekside (17-2) March 14, Miller Grove (9-4) March 16 and Clarkston (15-0) March 18 to improve to 5-6 overall.

Coach Donnie Hayes and the Lakeside Vikings swept three straight from Newton County, prevailing 15-4 (March 14), 7-5 (March 16) and 14-3 (March 18) to move to 9-1 overall on the year.

Coach Patrick Wright’s Redan Raiders continued their dominating surge, besting Lithonia (17-5) March 14, Chamblee (12-1) March 16 and Chamblee (9-0) March 18 while moving to 8-2 overall with seven straight victories.

Coach Tyrus Taylor’s Southwest DeKalb Panthers likewise ran their winning streak to six, picking up three tough Region 6AAAAA decisions over Miller Grove (3-0) March 14, Druid Hills (11-10) March 16 and Stephenson (6-4) March 18 to improve to 10-2 on the year.

Coach Vince Byams and the Tucker Tigers kept pace with Lakeside at the top of the Region 2AAAAAA standings, sweeping Lovejoy by the scores of 16-1 (March 14), 12-2 (March 16) and 14-7 (March 18) to improve to 8-4 overall with seven consecutive victories.

Sophomore Jalyn Hawkins (3 IP; 4 SO; 1 HA) and freshman Justin Hollis (1 IP; 1 SO) combined to limit Stone Mountain to one hit in Arabia Mountain’s 15-0 triumph March 14. Sophomore Corey King paced an 11-hit offensive attack for the Rams, going 3-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
