The DCSD Junior Varsity Basketball Championships are set for Saturday (Feb. 13) at Cedar Grove Middle School as part of Championship Saturday in conjunction with the DCSD Middle School Championships.

The JV girls’ title game will pit a pair of undefeated teams as Redan (11-0) faces off with Stephenson (11-0) at 2:00 pm.

Redan advanced to the championship with a thrilling 65-63 win over previously undefeated Southwest DeKalb (10-1). Redan had defeated Chamblee 44-18 in the opening round.

Stephenson cruised to a 55-21 semifinal win over defending champion Columbia (5-6) to advance to the championship. Stephenson survived a scare from Lakeside (7-3) in a 47-44 first round victory.

The boy’s title game also features two undefeated teams as defending champion Miller Grove (12-0) squares off against Lithonia (11-0) in the title game for the second consecutive season at 5:00 pm.

Miller Grove finished 13-0 last season following its 42-34 victory over the Bulldogs and is looking to repeat as champs and extend the win streak to 26 games.

Miller Grove knocked off Southwest DeKalb (6-4) 40-25 last Saturday to advance to the finals. Miller Grove opened the tournament with a 62-34 first round victory over Redan (6-4).

Lithonia remained undefeated on the season with its 56-49 victory over previously undefeated Tucker (9-1). Lithonia opened the tournament with a 56-48 opening round win over Stephenson (5-5).
