No. 5 ranked Dunwoody Lady Wildcats advanced to the Class 5A State Playoffs Final Four for the third consecutive year with a 3-0 sweep of the Allatoona Lady Buccaneers on Saturday at Dunwoody.

Dunwoody opened with a 25-22 victory to take the 1-0 lead in the match. A 25-17 in the second game gave Dunwoody a commanding 2-0 lead.

Allatoona battled in the final game before falling 25-22 for the second time in the match as Dunwoody closed out the quarterfinal match.

The Lady Wildcats (36-14) advance to take on No. 1 ranked Columbus (44-7) at 6:00 pm on Wednesday in Columbus with a spot in the finals on the line.

The two met in the same round a year ago with Columbus winning 3-1 on the way to the Class 5A state title.

Against nine common opponents this season Columbus is 8-2 while Dunwoody is 5-5.

Junior Madison McKnight is one of the leaders for Dunwoody. McKnight has 823 assists on the season to go with 155 serving aces. Junior Bridget Boyle (324 attacks/kills) and senior Lisa Gardner (396 digs) come together with McKnight as a formidable trio for the Lady Wildcats.

Columbus is led 6’-3” senior Shardonee Hays (500 attacks/kills, 103 blocks) who teams with 6’-0” senior Madison Flemming (1,154 assists) a very strong duo up front for the Lady Blue Devils.
