OverviewThe DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is protecting the vital resources of its students that may be stripped as a result of the City of Atlanta annexation near Druid Hills.
The annexation ordinance was amended at the 11th hour to extend the boundaries of the Atlanta Independent School System (APS), a move that will cost DCSD nearly $2.25 million dollars annually in tax revenue. Those funds provide teachers and resources for our students. The district has taken legal action to protect its students. A Fulton County judge issued an injunction that blocks the expansion of APS and prevents the forced enrollment of a small number of DCSD students. Further legal action is being considered.
The district urges all stakeholders to protect the rights of our students and their resources by contacting legislators at the local and state levels.
