DCSD Today

The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is a vibrant and forward-thinking PreK-12 public school district committed to empowering every student to reach their full potential. Guided by its bold vision to prepare students for success as lifelong learners and responsible global citizens the district strives to provide an exceptional educational experience for all.

Students in DeKalb County may attend one of our 138 schools/centers in their attendance boundary through traditional school enrollment or they may apply through school choice to attend a school/program outside of their attendance boundary.

With a mission centered on promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student by fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment, DCSD is a launchpad to new levels, new heights for bright futures and a cornerstone of a stronger, more connected community. The district believes in:

  • Meeting each student’s academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Supporting quality teaching and learning
  • Creating equitable educational opportunities for all students
  • Embracing cultural diversity

Our 2024-25 Strategic Plan is a focused roadmap with measurable goals, grounded in data and aligned with key performance indicators, targeting specific outcomes over the next five years. DCSD has a transparent internal continuous improvement process called MIRACLES to ensure our ongoing efforts enhance performance and outcomes. Additional information is shared in monthly Strategic Plan reports to the Board and Academic and Operations Reports

Our outcome, is that graduates leave equipped with the skills, competencies, and attributes defined in our Portrait of a Graduate and have a clear plan at graduation, pursuing enrollment, enlistment, employment, or entrepreneurship, ensuring a purposeful next step beyond high school.
