Shadow Rock Elementary rewards positive behaviors with ‘A Day of Enjoyment’.

Members of the “House of Success” at Shadow Rock Elementary School had plenty to celebrate on November 17 after being named the winner of a school-wide competition promoting positive behavior.

Four “houses” at Shadow Rock – Success, Ownership, Achievement and Respect (SOAR) – competed for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) points by demonstrating outstanding school behavior and engaging with parents through PTA membership, parent-teacher conferences, family engagement night, field trips and more.

PBIS is a research-based, proactive approach to assuring positive behavior in the classroom. At Shadow Rock, the method has mobilized students into improving behavior in the hallways, the classroom and the school cafeteria.

While the House of Success was declared the winner, all Shadow Rock Elementary students were able to enjoy the spoils of victory. On November 17, the school demonstrated “Eagle Pride” by hosting fun-filled activities at the end of the day, including a bounce-house and time spent on the school playground.

Principal Viva Jones joined the festivities by playing kick ball, sliding down a colossal slide and dancing in the gymnasium.
