DeKalb students to take Georgia Milestones Assessment. DeKalb County School District is entering the testing season! Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade Assessments for Grades 3-8 will take place on April 19 – May 4, and the Georgia Milestones End-of-Course Assessments for High School Courses will take place April 24 – May 2. Because motivation is key, here are 10 tips for parents to help their children prepare for the Georgia Milestones Assessment.

DeKalb Students Headed to Underwater Robotics Competition

Two teams from the DeKalb County School District will advance to a national underwater robotics competition on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. The Aquabots of Sagamore Hills Elementary School, and the Lamborghini team of Stone Mountain Middle School will advance after competing against other DeKalb County School District (DCSD) middle and high school students on April 15. Southwest DeKalb High Students Earn Scholarships to Georgia State University

Fourteen students at Southwest DeKalb High School have earned $8,000 scholarships to attend two-year programs at Georgia State University’s Decatur campus. The scholarships are funded through State Farm, which made a $14.5 million gift that will fund 50 scholarships for DeKalb high school students each year. DeKalb County Students Named 2017 Georgia Scholars

DeKalb County School District (DCSD) students Samantha Brewer of Dunwoody High School, and Eunice Garcia of Clarkston High School are among 183 graduating seniors statewide to be named Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). The program, coordinated by the GaDOE’s Excellence Recognition Office, recognizes high school seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has announced the winners of its fourth annual ART STAR awards for visual and performing arts. Chamblee High Student Named DeKalb’s 2017 STAR Student

Manav Mathews, a senior at Chamblee Charter High School, has been named the 2017 STAR student for DeKalb County by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce. Bus Route Adjustments Following I-85 Closure

Minor bus route adjustments planned initially following I-85 closure.
