Georgia United Makes Over Oakcliff Elementary

Thanks to the 300+ volunteers from Georgia United, DeKalb County School faculty, parents,
and the local community who helped makeover Oakcliff Elementary on July 22 & 23, 2016.

Cyber Safety Day

From cyberbullying to social networking, Cyber Safety Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and to encourage students and staff to use the internet and social media more safely. In an effort to create a culture of cyber safety awareness, there will be a district-wide Cyber Safety Day on February 7, 2017.  

CBS 46 Cares Books to Kids

CBS-46 Cares held its very first 'Books to Kids' distribution at Flat Shoals Elementary School. In September 2016, CBS-46 held a book drive that collected over 20,000 books, and every Pre-K through 5th grade students at the school received a book bag filled with 5 books.

Our Sister’s & My Brother’s Keeper

In September 2014, President Obama announced the MBK Challenge and charged communities to develop an action plan centered on six goals that reflect the unique needs and challenges facing each community. DeKalb County School District accepted that challenge and will host its 3rd Annual Our Sister's & My Brother's Keeper event on May 6, 2017.

Teachers Enhance Skills Via The Flying Classroom

Teachers work together using The Flying Classroom curriculum. A group of 20 DeKalb County School District teachers took off on a journey to enhance math, science and reading instruction through The Flying Classroom program during a visit hosted by Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. McNair Honored For Drug-Free Promotion

Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy was honored by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and the 2015 Georgia Red Ribbon Campaign for promoting drug-free activities during Red Ribbon Week. The Red Ribbon Committee at McNair Academy set several goals for the 2015 Red Ribbon Campaign, including raising awareness of the benefits of a drug-free lifestyle and fostering partnerships to reach that goal.
