The No. 9 ranked Tucker Tigers needed a two-conversion in overtime to defeat Mundy’s Mill 36-35 in a Region 4-6A high school football game at Adams Stadium on Friday night.

Mundy’s Mill had rallied to tie the game at 28-28 with 3:04 to play on a Raheem Gaines to London McCall touchdown pass play.

Mundy’s Mill scored first in overtime on a Ryan Nobles to Nick Mason 22-yard touchdown pass to take the 35-28.

Tucker’s Donny Harris broke lose for a 19-yard touchdown run to set up the game-winning two-point conversion.

David Davis had touchdown runs of 19 yards (first quarter) and 37 yards (fourth quarter, 28-21 lead) for Tucker. Quarterback Travon Ford had touchdown passes to Tyler Hughey (second quarter to tie game at 14-14 at the half) and a nine-yard toss to Isaiah Dunson to make it 21-14 in the third quarter.

Tucker improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in Region 4-6A to keep pace with the Stephenson Jaguars (3-1, 2-0) who jumped to a 27-0 lead on Morrow before finishing off a 34-8 victory at Tara Stadium in a Thursday night contest.

In other Region 4-6A action, the Martin Luther King Jr. Lions picked up their first victory of the season and first region win with a 28-21 win over Mt. Zion-Jonesboro at Tara Stadium on Friday night.

The Lions are now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in region action.

SW DeKalb 26, Lovejoy 16
The Class 5A No. 10 ranked Southwest DeKalb Panthers had to rally with 16 points in the second half to get past Class 6A Lovejoy 26-16 at Hallford Stadium on Friday night.

Lovejoy enjoyed a 10-6 halftime lead before the Panthers scored the next 16 points after the break to go up 26-10. Lovejoy added a late touchdown for the final of 26-16.

The Panthers are 5-0 heading into an off week before beginning Region 5-5A play against Chamblee on September 28 as they begin their road to the playoffs.

Southwest DeKalb’s four Region 5-5A opponents in action on Friday all came up short in non-region action. The previously unbeaten Lithonia Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season falling 49-7 to Pebblebrook at Godfrey Stadium.

Arabia Mountain fell to 2-3 on the season with a tough 28-21 road loss to Heritage (2-2), Miller Grove (1-3) fell 35-0 on the road at Class 6A No. 2 ranked Coffee County (4-0) and Chamblee (0-4) fell 49-6 on the road at Pickens County (4-0).

Luella 25, Druid Hills 3
Luella scored 19 fourth quarter points to pull away from Druid Hills for a 25-3 Region 4-4A home win on Friday.

Druid Hills kept the game close for three quarters and actually led 3-0 on a 31-yard Augie McQuaig field goal set up by the second of three first half interceptions by the Red Devils’ Joel Wade.

Luella took a 6-3 lead into the half and Druid Hills kept it at a three-point game through the third quarter.
