Middle School Basketball ramping up for playoff seedings.

Jonah Huff put together a pair of big games to lead Cedar Grove Saints in a pair of wins last week to keep the Saints undefeated in Region 4 at 6-0.

Huff hit for 18 points and Quinton Hall added 13 as the Saints won a non-region contest 48-39 over the Freedom Rams (3-7). Huff followed up with a 20-point, 18-rebound performance as the Saints rolled to a 56-15 Region 4 win over the Columbia Eagles (0-8, 0-5) last Saturday.

Elijah Heard hit for 12 points as he and teammates Quinton Hall (10) and Xavier Matayoshi (10) joined Huff in double figures. Cedar Grove is 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the region.

The Druid Hills Red Devils (4-5, 4-3) moved into third place in the Region 2 standings with a big 53-49 overtime upset of region leader Renfroe Bulldogs (7-2, 4-1). Ka’Ron Singleton hit for a game-high 20 points in the win while teammate Asaad Lawson put together a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double to aid the cause.

Nixon Stewart hit for 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to lead Bethune (5-4, 3-2) into a tie for second with Chapel Hill (5-4, 3-2) with a 44-10 win over McNair (1-7, 1-4).

The Redan Raiders (8-1, 7-0) remained undefeated in Region 3 action with wins of 40-36 over Miller Grove (4-4, 2-2) and 55-51 over Salem (3-7, 0-6). Lithonia (8-1, 4-1) is trying to set up a title match on Saturday, January 20 against Redan following a 48-34 win over Freedom (3-7, 1-5). Lithonia has two region games against Miller Grove to play before the head-to-head matchup with Redan.

Tucker (7-2, 6-0) remained in the lead in Region 1 with a crucial 46-37 victory over defending county champs Chamblee (6-4, 3-3).

Henderson (8-2, 4-2) moved into second in the Region 1 standings with wins of 50-21 over Peachtree (3-6, 1-5) and 70-9 against Sequoyah (0-8, 0-5). Jaden Gurrero had 21 points, Ethan Sams 16 and Sebastian Reed 15 in the win over Sequoyah. William Parker had 9 points, 7 steals and 4 assists in the win over Peachtree.

The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers continue to roll towards another undefeated regular season improving to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in Region 4. The Lady Panthers picked up wins of 67-5 over Salem and 61-12 over Miller Grove in non-region play last week.

Another team vying for a big season as well is the Peachtree Lady Patriots who improved to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 1 with a 33-25 win over Henderson (5-5, 3-3). Henderson is locked in a second place tie with Tucker (4-5, 3-3) which downed Chamblee (3-7, 2-4) 30-16.

Miller Grove (4-4, 4-0) remains in first place in Region 3 girls’ action following a 30-22 victory over Redan (4-5, 4-3) last week. Lithonia (5-4, 4-1) picked up a big Region 3 victory 36-26 over Freedom (2-8, 2-4) to remain in second place with two big games looming against Miller Grove.

Renfroe (8-1, 5-0) continues to lead the Region 2 standings following a sweep of the Druid Hills Lady Red Devils (1-9, 1-6). Renfroe won 41-4 and 36-7 during region play last week. Stephenson (8-1, 4-1) remains in second place with non-region wins of 42-29 over Chamblee (3-7) and 48-2 against Sequoyah (0-8).
