The Dunwoody Lady Wildcats answered a first inning run by Northview with six of their own on the way to a 10-2 Region 7-6A fastpitch softball victory at Dunwoody on Tuesday.

Savannah McDaniel put Northview ahead 1-0 in the top of first with a RBI single to score Sophia Hamill.

Taylor Pierce got the Lady Wildcats (2-1, 2-1) rolling with a leadoff double in the bottom half of the inning and with one out Walker Wicklund singled to center to tie the game 1-1.

A single by Lindsey Puckett and a walk to Heather Yancey loaded the bases for McKenzie Hunt who delivered a two-run single up the middle to make it 3-1. Lindsay Southard put down a sacrifice bunt to score Hunt later in the inning and Nicole Mulford singled and score on an error to give Dunwoody a 6-1 lead after the first inning.

Northview picked up run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 6-2 on McDaniel’s second RBI single of the game.

Dunwoody responded in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Pierce to score Katie Hicks to send the Lady Wildcats into the fourth inning with a 7-2 advantage.

Jasmin Henry led off the top of the fourth for Northview with a double to center field, but was left stranded as Dunwoody pitcher Samantha Moss picked up a strikeout and entice a pair of infield flies to end the threat.

Walker Wicklund led off the bottom of the fourth for Dunwoody with a triple off the left field fence to spark a three-run inning.

Puckett followed with a single to left field to score Wicklund and Sara Goodelman lined a RBI double off the left field fence to score Puckett for a 9-2 lead. Goodleman would come around to score as a pair of wild pitches allowed her to finish her trip around the bases for the 10-2 lead.

Moss struck out the first two batters of the inning, her fifth and sixth of the game, and got another infield fly to Puckett at shortstop to end the game by the run rule.

Taylor Pierce was 2-3 with a pair of RBI and two doubles to lead the Lady Wildcats at the plate. Walker Wicklund was 2-2 with a triple and RBI to go with Lindsey Puckett’s 2-3, 1 RBI performance.

Samantha Moss struck out six, walked 1 and allowed 2 runs and four hits in five innings on the mound for Dunwoody.

Sophia Hamill was 2-3 to lead Northview.
