The No. 2 ranked Clarkston Angoras solved the Cass goalie and defense in the final 25 minutes to score five goals on the way to the 5-0 Class 5A boys’ state tournament victory on Friday at Hallford Stadium.

The Cass goalie had kept the game at 0-0 for the first 55 minutes of play with some outstanding saves, including on a penalty kick with 7:48 remaining in the first half.

The Clarkston defense played tough throughout the game as well allowing Cass just two shots on goal during the game.

Jeremiah Luoma got the Angoras on the board as he kicks a shot off a Cass defender and into the net for a 1-0 lead with 24:50 to play in the game.

The game remained scoreless for the next nine minutes before Mohamed Tambadu lined a kick into the top right corner of the goal to up the lead to 2-0 with 15:51 to play.

Bismark Dansou made it a 3-0 game with 11:07 to play as he hit a blast from deep down the middle.

Tambadu would finish with the hat trick in the game as he added a goal into the right corner with 9:59 to play and followed at the 8:11 mark by dribbling through traffic to take on the Cass goalie to make the final 5-0.

Clarkston (16-1-1) hosts No. 6 Starr’s Mill (13-4-1) on Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Hallford Stadium, Starr’s Mill advanced with an 11-1 win over Warner Robins in the first round.

In other Class 5A boys’ action, No. 7 Cross Keys (12-4-1) shutout Villa Rica (10-5-2) 3-0 behind a pair of goals by Jesus Macedonio. Marcos Diaz added the third goal while Eduardo Dimas, Ernesto Perez and Darwin Calix had assists in the game. Perez also played 74 minutes in goal with eight saves and no goals allowed.

Chamblee (6-9-2) lost a 3-2 heartbreak to Rome (11-4-1) after forcing overtime and penalty kicks in the Class 5A boys’ first round while Arabia Mountain (7-8-0) dropped a 5-0 decision to Carrollton (14-2-0).

The Cross Keys Lady Indians (7-5-0) had a good season to come to an end with a 4-0 loss to Carrollton at Adams Stadium on Friday.

In Class 6A girls’ play, Glynn Academy (13-3-0) eliminated the Stephenson Lady Jaguars (9-9-0) 10 to 0.

The second round beings on Tuesday, May second with a pair of girls’ games in DeKalb County.

Chamblee (13-3-2) hosts No. 4 McIntosh (11-6-2) at Adams Stadium at 5:30 pm. Chamblee advanced with a 5-0 win over Kell while McIntosh won 10-0 over Warner Robins in the opening round.

The Tucker Lady Tigers (12-6-0) host Sequoyah (11-6-2) in a 5:30 pm game at Hallford Stadium.

The boys return to action on Wednesday, May 3 with a doubleheader set for Hallford Stadium.

The No. 2 ranked Clarkston Angoras (16-1-1) open the night with a Class 5A matchup against No. 6 ranked Starr’s Miller (13-4-1) at 6:00 pm. The Tucker Tigers (12-7-0) host No. 4 ranked Allatoona (15-3-0) following the Clarkston/Starr’s Miller game.

Druid Hills (13-6-0), the No. 2 team in Class 4A, meets No. 9 ranked Northwest Whitfield (13-5-1) at Adams Stadium at 7:30 pm.

The lone road game involves No. 7 ranked Cross Keys (12-4-1) traveling to No. 1 ranked McIntosh (18-1-0) for a 7:30 pm opening kick.
