The 2017 DCSD JV Basketball Championships move into the semifinals on Saturday (Feb. 4) at Stephenson Middle School with four games beginning at 10:00 am.

The opening girls’ matchup will be Region 3 champ Stephenson (10-1) hosting Region 4 champ Arabia Mountain (9-2) at 10:00 am. Stephenson advanced with a 48-21 victory over Lakeside (6-5) while Arabia Mountain pulled out a thrilling 41-39 victory over Dunwoody (8-3).

The other girls’ semifinal set for 1:00 pm features Region 1 champ Southwest DeKalb (10-1) hosting Region 3 runner-up Martin Luther King Jr. (8-3). Southwest DeKalb knocked off Cedar Grove 56-41 to reach the semifinals while King upset Region 2 No. 1 seed Towers to advance.

The first boys’ semifinal is set for an 11:30 am tip as Region 1 champ Southwest DeKalb (10-1) hosts Region 2 champ Lithonia (10-1). The Panthers defeated Cedar Grove (6-4) 45-35 to reach the semis while the Bulldogs advanced via forfeit against Chamblee (6-5).

Wrapping up the semifinals is the 2:30 pm boys’ game between Region 3 champ Miller Grove (10-1) and Region 4 champ Arabia Mountain (7-4). Miller Grove picked up a 46-29 victory over Clarkston (6-5) to move into the home team role in the semis. Arabia Mountain pulled out an exciting 46-44 win over Tucker (8-4) to reach the semifinals.

The championship games will be played at Cedar Grove Middle School on Saturday, Feb. 11.
