The Redan Lady Raiders bounced back with a fury from a 25-22 loss in game 3 of their best-of-five Class 3A opening round match to close out a 3-1 win with a 25-6 final game victory.

After dropping the final four points of game 3, the Lady Raiders came out and took the first seven points of the fourth and final game. Kiola Symister started serving the final game and had a pair of winners and an ace to go with a pair of kills by Takaira Flemons on the way to the early 7-0 lead.

Gerika Moon got to the service line following a Taliah Gardner kill from a set from Symister. Moon put together a pair of winners and an ace as the lead expanded to 12-1.

Johnquanek Spencer served out the match winning the final three points to propel Redan (29-2) into the Sweet 16 on Thursday.

Spencer was big in the first game win for Redan as she took the assist from Symister for a big kill in the middle of the Savannah (11-13) court for an 8-5 Redan lead. She then took over from the service line with three aces and two winners as Redan reeled off seven consecutive points to go up 15-5.

Redan would go on to win a relatively easy first game by a final of 25-15.

Trailing 16-12 in the second game, Redan came roaring back to tie the game at 19-19. Gardner had a pair of touch shots to give Redan a 21-19 lead.

Flemons scored three of the final four points of the game, including a big kill to end it at 25-19 to give Redan the 2-0 advantage.

Redan, the Area 5-3A runner-up, is one of three DeKalb teams remaining in the state playoffs and travels to Area 1 No. 1 seed Sonoraville (26-22-1) at 6:00 pm on Thursday. Sonoraville defeated Coahulla Creek 3-0 in the first round to advance.

Towers’ season came to an end with a Class 3A first round 3-0 loss on the road at Islands (21-9). The Titans finish the year at 7-16.

Chamblee (36-8) is set to host Harris County (40-12) in a 6:00 pm Class 5A Sweet 16 contest on Thursday.
