Junior Ermais Tewolde ran the fastest boys’ time of the day to lead the Druid Hills Red Devils to a win in the first meet held Tuesday at Arabia Mountain this season.

Tewolde clocked an 18:55.04 to capture first in the second boys’ race of the day as the Red Devils place four in the Top 10 to cruise to a 31-49 win over Chamblee. Tucker was third with 52 points and Towers finished fourth with 214.

Sophomores Ian Shunk (19:27.21) and Carter Rather (20:19.80) were third and fourth, respectively, while senior Anderson England finished just inside the Top 10 in ninth with a time of 20:52.24.

Chamblee sophomore Bennett Solomon finished in 19:17.11 to take second overall and junior Rasheed Cobb gave the Bulldogs a pair of Top 10 finishes with his time of 20:43.33 to take seventh.

Tucker placed three in the Top 10 led by senior Ryan Wurapa (20:21.13) in fifth. Sophomore Ian Nuhfer was sixth (20:34.12) and sophomore Miles Smith took eighth in 20:45.70.

Towers senior Raymond Rogers rounded out the Top 10 finishers in a time of 21:32.94.

Junior Beining Xiao was the faster girl on the day with a time of 23:33.57 to win the second girls’ competition at Arabia Mountain to lead Chamblee to a 23-34 win over Druid Hills. Tucker was third with 97 points.

Xiao was the first of six Chamblee runners to cross the line in the Top 10 followed by sophomores Annie Magee (25:45.19) in third, Madeline Miller (26:33.94) in fifth, Abigail Washburn (27:08.78) in sixth and Laila Elmattrawy (27:18.70) in eighth. Junior Isabel Gerondelis was 10th in 27:52.59.

Druid Hills filled up the other four slots in the Top 10 led by senior Rachel Juieng (24:45.77) in second overall and fellow senior Olivia Montcastle (26:25.22) in fourth. A pair of freshman finished in the Top 10 for Druid Hills as Callie Weldman (27:09.07) was seventh and Genevieve Ferrara (27:48.52) was ninth.

The Stone Mountain Pirates ran away with the first boys’ race at Arabia Mountain with four runners in the Top 10 to power past host Arabia Mountain 28-72. Stephenson was third with 121 points breaking a tie with Lithonia via its sixth runner finishing higher while Redan was fifth with 148 and Columbia sixth with 153.

Miller Grove’s Joel Mazelin, a junior, beat a trio of Pirates across the finish line to take the individual honors with a time of 21:16.47.

Sophomore Mohamed Dirie clocked a time of 21:24.87 to finish second and was followed in order by seniors Yusuf Omar (22:04.69) and Slavisa Perisic (22:38.64). Junior D’Andre Martin (22:58.34) round out the four Top 10 finishers for Stone Mountain in sixth.

Senior Ken’Daius Goodrum was Stephenson’s top finisher as he came across fifth in a time of 22:40.05.Arabia Mountain’s only Top 10 runner was senior Malik Smith (23:17.51) in ninth.

Lithonia put a pair of runners in the Top 10 in junior Ziren Alexander (23:16.93) in seventh and freshman Brian Chesnokov (23:21.97) in 10th.

Senior Alyssa McGriff raced to top honors in the girls’ first race of the day leading Arabia Mountain to a 27-53 win over Southwest DeKalb. Stephenson finished third with 74 points.

McGriff ran a time of 27:48.68 as the leader of four Top 10 finishers for the Lady Rams including third place by senior Sydni Rush (29:16.13), fifth by junior Makayla Swann (32:13.86) and sixth by sophomore Alina Shoemake (32:43.63).

Southwest DeKalb junior Raekwan Bostic was one of three Lady Panthers in the Top 10 with her fourth place finish in 31:31.58. Ashann Green (32:54.47) was ninth followed by Nuah Bostic (33:29.47) in 10th and Shanice Harris (33:32.62) in 11th.

Columbia junior Franol Hulufe was second overall with a time of 28:14.03 while Cedar Grove senior Tyra Cullum (32:44.30) was seventh and Stephenson sophomore Deanna Rawlings (32:50.47) was eighth to round out the Top 10.
