The Stephenson Lady Jaguars fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning before rolling to a 16-1 victory over the Columbia Lady Eagles in fast pitch softball action at Stephenson.

Columbia’s Jayda Colon was hit by a pitch with one out to set up the go-ahead run for the Lady Eagles in the top of the first inning. Colon would steal second and score on a two-out error by the Lady Jaguars for the 1-0 lead.

Colon and Alona Mischew who reached on the error were the only base runners allowed by Stephenson pitcher Jordyn Powell in the three-inning game. Powell struck out the side in the first inning on the way to eight strikeouts for the game.

Stephenson tied the game up in the bottom of the first as Shai-Anne Stoudemire reached on an error, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-1.

Brierra Warren would fuel a six-run inning for Stephenson as she followed Stoudemire’s score with an inside-the-park homerun over the Columbia outfield to give the Lady Jaguars a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.

Three walks and an error would lead four more runs including RBIs on infield grounders by Rainise Dumas and Jada Robinson to push the lead out to 6-1 after the first inning.

Powell struck out the side again in the second inning as she set the Lady Eagles down in order.

Stephenson would put 10 runs on the board in the bottom of the second inning keyed by a three-run inside-the-park homer by Meadow Williams to deep center. Nia Davis, Stoudemire and Warren also drove in runs in the inning.
