Freshman Grace Fazzone was 3-3 with two doubles, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored to lead the Chamblee Lady Bulldogs to a 15-0 win over Druid Hills at Chamblee on Wednesday.

Chamblee pitcher Mary Axelson who allowed just one base runner in the game set Druid Hills down in order in the top of the first to bring the Bulldog bats to the plate.

A one out double by Fazzone kicked off a three-run inning for Chamblee. Rachel Lovejoy’s RBI single plated Fazzone and Lovejoy would score as Alexandria Towner reached on an error to make it a 2-0 advantage. Carlin Waddell’s RBI single scored Towner to send Chamblee to the top of the second with a 3-0 lead.

Axelson set the Red Devils down in order once again in the top of the second and Chamblee would exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Fazzone picked up her first of three RBI in the second inning as she singled home Tia Gordon and Becka Loftus grounded out to plate Kacie Lowery to make it 5-0.

A double by Lovejoy and an error on Druid Hills made it 7-0 with two outs in the inning. Waddell picked up her second RBI of the game with a single and Anna Burke picked up the first of her three RBI in the game with a double to score Waddell.

Chamblee took a 9-0 lead into the third inning as the Red Devils came up to bat.

Tamia Laney singled into right field with one out to become the first and only base runner of the game for Druid Hills. Axelson would then entice a fielder’s choice to erase Laney at second and an infield fly to end the inning.

Gordon and Lowery would draw walks to open the third inning and Fazzone promptly roped a double into left-center to score both runners.

A walk to Loftus put two on with one out for Towner who hit a double over the center fielder to pick up a pair of RBI. Waddell singled and Burke singled to score the two runners to end the game.

Waddell joined Fazzone at 3-3 on the day for Chamblee including game-high tying 3 RBI with Burke going 2-3 with 3 RBI and Lovejoy 2-3 with a double and RBI.

Laney finished 1-2 for Druid Hills to have the only hit against Axelson on the day.

Axelson went three innings and faced just 10 batters to pick up the win for Chamblee which improved to 1-1 after a season opening 8-3 loss to St. Pius on Monday. Druid Hills fell to 0-1 after losing its season opener.
