The Clarkston Angoras open play in the Class 5A boys’ state playoffs at 5:30 pm tonight in a Hallford Stadium doubleheader to kick off a slate of four DCSD boys’ soccer teams first round playoff games.

The Angoras (13-5-0), the Region 6-5A runners-up, play host to No. 3 ranked Dalton (16-1-1) in the state playoff opener. Jeremiah Louma leads the Angoras with 11 goals on the season and Musab Abdulaziz has 10 goals and 8 assists.

The No. 2 ranked Cross Keys Indians (13-2-1) follow the Angoras at 7:30 pm at Hallford Stadium as they take on Pickens County (3-10-1) in the first round of the Class 4A boys’ state playoffs. Gilberto Ramos leads the Indians offensively with 12 goals and 15 assists and Christian Rodriguez is tied for the lead in goals with 12. Goalie Ernesto Perez is 6-1 overall and is one of three Indians’ goalies averaging giving up less than one goal per game (0.90).

Senior Josh Bronstroph and his DeKalb County leading 43 goals on the season leads the Dunwoody Wildcats (11-6-1) into their Class 5A boys’ first round state playoff game against North Atlanta set for 7:30 pm at North DeKalb. Bronstroph is also the second leading assist player on the Wildcat team with 13 behind Michael Berkman’s team leading 15. Goalie Trey Dolder is allowing just 1.09 goals per game with a 10-5-0 record on the season.

Druid Hills (8-9-1) is the final team in action tonight in the Class 5A boys’ state playoffs with a trip to Cambridge (8-7-1) at 7:00 pm. Luke Narker is the team leader in goals (16) and assists (6). Goalie Carl Leathers has a 1.37 goals allowed average on the season.

Eight more teams are on the slate for Wednesday led by the No. 2 ranked Lakeside Vikings (18-0-0) who host South Cobb (7-7-0) at 7:30 pm at Hallford Stadium in the Class 6A boys’ state playoffs following the Lady Vikings (13-1-2) vs. Douglas County (11-4-0) in the Class 6A girls’ state playoffs.

Saul Tinoco leads the Vikings with 22 goals and 19 assists on the season followed by Max Wieder with 18 goals, Raul Tinoco with 12 goals and 13 assists. Goalie Alfonso Bautista is 18-0-0 on the season with a sparkling goals allowed average of just 0.46 (7 goals allowed on the year).

In other Class 6A action on Wednesday the Tucker Lady Tigers (9-5-0) travel to Newnan (13-3-0) for a 6:00 pm contest.

Four Class 5A girls’ state playoff games are set for Wednesday led by No. 10 Dunwoody (10-4-1) hosting Sequoyah (10-7-1) at North DeKalb at 7:00 pm. Druid Hills (8-7-1) hosts Forsyth Central (13-4-0) in a 6:00 pm game at Avondale.

Road games have Martin Luther King (9-6-2) traveling to Cambridge (10-6-2) for a 6:00 pm game and Southwest DeKalb (12-6-0) going to No. 3 ranked North Atlanta (12-3-1) also at 6:00 pm.

The final game on Wednesday has Chamblee (9-5-0) headed to Heritage-Catoosa (10-2-0) for a 5:30 pm Class 4A girls’ state playoff game.

The Tucker Tigers (8-8-1) wind up the first round schedule on Thursday as they host Campbell (10-4-1) in a 7:00 pm Class 6A boys’ state playoff contest at Hallford Stadium.
