All five DeKalb County entries moved forward in the winners’ bracket of the Chick-fil-A Invitational Basketball Tournament in first round action at Tucker High School on Saturday.

The Class 5A No. 1 ranked Miller Grove Wolverines (9-2) advanced to the second round with an easy 77-29 victory over Glenn Hills (1-9) as five players hit double figures in the final game of the night.

Colin Young led the way with 15 points followed by Raylon Richardson (8 rebounds) and Tae Hardy with 13 points each, Alterique Gilbert with 12 points and 7 assists and Aaron Augustin coming close to a triple double with 10 points, 14 assists and 8 steals in the game.

The Class 4A No. 3 ranked Lithonia Bulldogs (8-3) had three players hit double figures in a 62-58 win over South Miami, FL (11-3) on Saturday.

The Bulldogs pulled out to a 45-35 lead after three quarters and held off South Miami for the win. Rodney Chatman led the way for Lithonia with 19 points followed by Jacara Cross with 15 and Ty Patterson with 12. Miguel Arnold hit for a game-high 25 points to lead South Miami.

In other games involving DeKalb County teams, Tucker (8-3) downed Brainerd, TN (8-3) 53-47, Columbia (6-4) knocked off Rutland (4-6) 56-53 and Cedar Grove (6-4) nipped Rockdale County (6-7) 50-49.

Other winners included undefeated Osceola, FL (9-0) knocking off Butler (5-3) 65-53, North Clayton (6-3) 61-47 over Mays (6-7) and Mississippi’s No. 1 ranked team Meridian (14-1) cruised to a 53-34 win over Tri-Cities (3-6).
