The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs avenged two earlier losses to the Tucker Lady Tigers with a 3-0 sweep in a dual volleyball match at Chamblee on Tuesday.

Wins of 25-16 and 25-14 had the Lady Bulldogs cruising to a 2-0 lead on Tucker.

Chamblee (24-14) trailed 12-11 in the first game before going on an 8-0 run to take control of the game behind the serving of Sydney Hicks. Junior outside hitter Kyla Manning got on a roll scoring six of the points via both power (2 kills) and finesse (touch shots into open areas of the Tucker defense).

Cana Dee closed out the game winning three consecutive serve points, including a service winner for the game clincher at 25-16.

Jordan Wilkes opened the second game for Chamblee by winning her first five service points to allow the Lady Bulldogs to jump to a 5-0 lead.

Chamblee would lead by as much as 12 at 19-7 in the game. Cana Dee and Rachel Loftus combined on a block on game point to seal the 25-14 win for the commanding 2-0 lead in the best of five match.

Tucker got into more of a rhythm in the third game and the two teams swapped the lead three times and were tied at 15-15 when Kierra Johnson-Graham used a touch shot into an open area of the Chamblee defense for the go-ahead point at 16-15.

The lead would grow to 22-18 behind the serving of Emily Chiok as Tucker went ahead.

Chamblee battled back to tie the game at 22-22 and 23-23. Chamblee took a brief 24-23 lead on a block at the net, but Johnson-Graham again got a tip into an open spot on the floor to tie the game once again at 24-24.

Manning’s kill attempt on the next point was blocked off a Tucker defender and out of bounds to put Chamblee up to serve on match point. Chiok was back for the serve and launched one that glanced off a Tucker defender and out of bounds for the match point in the 27-25 win.

Teams are preparing for Area Tournaments coming up next week.
