The Dunwoody Lady Wildcats won six straight matches to capture the 2014 DeKalb County Spikefest Volleyball Tournament championship last weekend.

Pool play opened on Friday night with Dunwoody sweeping a pair of wins from Clarkston (25-2, 25-1) and Columbia (25-7, 25-5) to go to 2-0 in pool play after the first day of action.

The second day of pool play concluded with Dunwoody undefeated at 4-0 following wins over Druid Hills (25-10, 25-9) and Stephenson (25-5, 25-2).

Next up was Pool D runner-up Chamblee in the Gold Bracket Championship semifinals with Dunwoody knocking off the defending champion Lady Bulldogs 25-11 and 25-14 to advance to the championship finals against Lakeside.

Pool D champ Tucker  defeated Pool A runner-up Miller Grove (25-13, 25-9) to advance to the semifinals against Pool C winner Lakeside who downed the Lady Tigers  (25-21, 25-17) in the semifinals to advance to the title game.

Dunwoody cruised in the title game to a 25-11, 25-5 two set sweep of Lakeside (5-1) to improve to 6-0 on the season. Dunwoody’s Caroline Madden was named the tournament MVP for her play in the 6-0 run by the Lady Wildcats.

Southwest DeKalb finished 5-2 in the tournament and won the consolation Silver Bracket with a 25-14, 19-25 and 15-8 three set victory over Arabia Mountain. The Lady Panthers had defeated McNair 25-10 and 25-5 and added 25-12, 25-20 two-set victory over Lithonia in the semifinals after going 2-2 in Pool D play.
