Chamblee’s stunning run to the state playoffs featured a perfect 4-0 run as the main highlight among many for local baseball teams in the final week of the regular season.

Coach Brian Ely’s Bulldogs knocked off Arabia Mountain (10-0) April 20, Cross Keys (19-0) April 22, Cross Keys (12-2) April 23 and Arabia Mountain (7-1) April 24 by a combined margin of 48-3 in improving to 11-15 overall. The run completed a 10-4 last half of the season for the Bulldogs who started 1-11 this spring.

Senior Curtis Poretsky went 4-4 with three RBI in Chamblee’s state clinching 7-1 victory over Arabia Mountain April 24.

Columbia (18-6) and Stephenson (17-2) also posted dominating 5-0 records in action from last week to roll into host roles in the state playoffs this weekend.
