Improving to 18-0 on the season took just 39 minutes for the Dunwoody Wildcats as they defeated East Paulding 4-0 at Dunwoody on Wednesday afternoon.

The first win of the day came from the No. 1 doubles duo of Matthew Moussouri and Will Munger who improved to 5-3 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over East Paulding’s Zach Sims and Clayton Poss.

Andrea Ubezio (7-2) put Dunwoody up 2-0 with a big service ace to finish off a 6-0, 6-0 win over East Paulding’s Brandon Deavers at No. 1 singles.

Daniel Bynum and JT Melton ran their record to 6-0 at No. 2 doubles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Brian Sanyalou and Brooks Grant to close out the match. Brandon Gita improved to 13-0 overall and 9-0 at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over East Paulding’s Tevyn Stevens.

The Wildcats move on to face No. 3 seed North Springs, a 3-2 upset winner over No. 2 seed Flowery Branch, at Dunwoody in the Sweet 16. The day and time is to be determined for the match.

Another big winner on Wednesday was Chamblee as the Lady Bulldogs (13-4) swept Troup County 5-0 to advance to the Sweet 16 for the third consecutive season.

Senior Gabby Robinson improved to 17-0 on the season and is yet to lose a set after a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles. No. 2 singles player freshman Olena Bilukha also improved to 17-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory of her own.

Chamblee also got a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles by senior Hannah Rosen. The No. 1 doubles team of sophomores Kyla Manning and Kendalle Smith and No. 2 doubles team of sophomores Leeza Ershtein and Victoria Syphoe won easily with matching 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Chamblee advances to take on No. 2 seed North Hall, a 5-0 winner over No. 3 seed Gilmer, on Monday (4/26) in a 2:00 pm match at HIT Atlanta.

The Region 4-3A No. 4 seed Towers Titans made the best of their first ever trip to the Class 3A boys’ state tournament with a 3-0 road upset of Region 3-3A No. 1 seed Westside-Augusta.

Juniors Zachary Smith and Tyrone Laury both improved to 11-2 in singles play with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Senior Garrett Anderson made it a clean sweep of the singles for Towers with his win at No. 2 singles to improve to 10-3 overall.

Towers now travels to Region 1-3A No. 2 seed Pierce County, a 5-0 winner against No. 3 seed Rutland, on Monday (4/27) for a 2:30 pm Sweet 16 match.

Clarkston’s first ever trip to the boys’ state tournament ended in a 5-0 Class 5A loss on the road to Allatoona. In other Class 5A boys’ play, the Druid Hills Red Devils’ lost a 5-0 decision to Alexander to close out their 2015 season.

The Tucker Tigers’ season came to a close with a 3-0 loss at Lowndes County on Wednesday in Class 6A boys’ action.

The Southwest DeKalb Lady Panthers and Martin Luther King Jr. Lady Lions also lost in the first round. Southwest DeKalb fell 3-0 to Villa Rica while the Lady Lions first playoff appearance turned in to a 5-0 loss at Allatoona.
